SOS'ers cancelling their call at the finale.
I'm new to MH (my play-time will scream this XD) But this has happened about four times so far.

Today's example was an SOS from a player having difficulties with the Anjanath. Myself, and another player responded to the SOS'ers call. and we whittled down the Anjanaths heal to the brink of death (took a while, for obvious beginner gear reasons) this thing was limping away, and all of a sudden, I get the "Quest Leader cancelled SOS" message (I can see myself beginning to dread this) Myself and the other player get booted, lose all the resources we expended on the monster to help this guy/gal and get nothing for our efforts.

All the while this was happening, mind you, the person who sent the SOS put in zero effort to help us defeat his monster.

So.....is this a regular thing? Am I going to have to not bother with SOS calls any more?
I hope not, because I think it's cool as hell to have people jump in to rescue you when you're in a bind, ya know?

Would love some feedback and info from some veterans, and any stories of this happening to you, if you have them!

Thanks for your time, and input, friendos!

What are you talking about?
you lose nothing and can still cap or kill the beast on your own.
you can also abbandom the match and regain all your item because progress will be reset to the status before the fight.

No, I couldn't, because after the message, it was instantly send to the end mission screen.

(EDIT: in response to cruste's edit.) I couldn't abandon the quest, as I said, as soon as the "Quest Leader cancelled SOS" came up on the screen, I was sent to the end screen. But, it's nice to know I can abandon and not lose my resources, in future.

I've never seen this happen, but I'm pretty sure you can still finish off the hunt on your own, its possible the host had a disconnect too

Would a host disconnecting cause a "Quest Leader cancelled SOS"?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe so if you think about it logically, if someone disconnects it's going to cancel the SOS the game doesn't specifically say that someone lost connection just that they left which means canceled SOS *edit* also idk if it's just me but for some reason the random disconnects always seem to rev up when ever Kulve comes around

I would assume if that were to happen, though. it would just plop me into my own instance?

After the cancelled SOS message, it dropped the failed quest message, opened up the end quest screen, and that was that.

Thanks for chipping in btw. I do appreciate it.

Just my luck! XD find a game I'm REALLY enjoying and I get lumped with all the window lickers in multiplayer. :P Maybe I'll just try to solo everything instead.
Mirai Jun 29, 2019 @ 1:58pm
it gets better late game I promise the people that stick around till late game are the ones that want to get stuff done

That's good to know! Now....I just need to get that far, with my current luck (or lack thereof) with other players, it might be a while. None of my friends play this game, unfortunately, so solo is my best option, if my current roster of randoms is anything to go by, at least XD

What happened was that the party reached the max number of faints so mission was failed.

Is THAT what happened? Well that'd explain it. Still, odd way to convey that with a "Quest Leader cancelled SOS" ya know? A straight up Quest failed message would be a lot less confusing XD

The host must've been stepped on without me noticing, although he/she was quite far away from the monster. Myself and the other player were putting in the effort. That Anjanath is mighty powerful (at least for me, at this point in the game) I'd assume it'd just be fodder later on.

quest leader might have jumped out of the sos when he saw somebody was about to die and fail the quest in order to save his hunt. its rare but you see this in behemoth where when he dies he does a final stage wipe which can wipe your whole party and fail your quest.

that would be my guess from the fail after the drop, if it was at the same time then it would just be a normal failure of an sos.

That's just it, friendo, neither myself or the other player who joined got knocked out at all. At this point, I can only assume the SOS'er got smashed and had been KO'd twice before they sent up a flare.....maybe?

Yep, a lot of hunter tried to solo the hunt on thier own but carted 2x times then fired SOS in hope to get the quest done but he carted at the last minutes and quest failed :) I have seen alot when the game first release on PS4.
