You CAN SOLO Arch Tempered Nergigante [Rough Guide]
*UPDATED*

Here's (intermediate) advice to anyone looking to take down AT Nergigante BUCKLE UP:
(If I miss anything or get anything wrong feel free to share this information)

Non offensive Decos that can be helpful: Vitality, Evasion, Maintenance, Medicine, Protection, Gobbler, Guts

WEAPONS
-Easy: SnS, Longsword, Lance, Glance, DualB, ChargeB, Bug Stick
-Medium: Bows, Hammer, Switchaxe, Hunting Horn (have to time your rolls well)
-Hard: [Aerial] Great Sword (at least for me anyway)
-Bowgun: Builds can vary on taste. High evade LBG can make it very easy. Piece can shred off AT NG spikes. Cluster/Spread builds are still very strong. If you're experienced I'm sure you can do it easy. For HBG Reload, Reload, Shield augment is a nice defensive balance. For LBG you can do all Close Range if you wanted since you don't have as much problem with movement

Basic suggested Items to bring:

-Mega Potions (obviously)
-Potions (do not eat these)
-Honey (set on your radial bar the crafting for mega potions, extremely helpful mid fight)
-Max Potions (last resort)
-Bring stuff to make Max Potions (also put the crafting on your radial wheel)
-Mega Barrel Bombs
-Light Barrel Bombs
-Devil's Blight mushrooms (to make more megas)
-Buff Drinks, Powder, Seeds
-Talons and Charms(they stack)
-Bring Great Sushifish Scales as they heal quick for 100 and grant Recovery Up(increased healing from items) for 2 minutes

[Make sure your armor is upgraded fully]

THE FIGHT :

-Make sure you have all the camps unlocked beforehand. When AT NG runs into another room, that's your cue to refill on necessities and BOMBS

-You need to B-E A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E but learn not to get greedy with long slow hits, AT NG is very proficient in putting you in your place.
-His spikes grow much faster then they'll get into hardened state, aka the BONE ZONE
-This is a LOOOOONG fight very close to soloing Behemoth, unless you're a God hunter

-He's basically the same as regular Nergigante except he hits like a truck, about 8x harder by stats, even those light paw moves do significant damage
-His paw pattern usually alternates Left->Right->Left->Right, you can dodge to the
side away from him to avoid it

-AT NG comes with 2 NEW moves, one where he jumps up and swiftly comes back to earth like Dio dropping a steam roller on your hopes and dreams. He can repeat this move, over and over and over if you're unlucky
-This move will DESTROY you for over committing, you can't just spam to win
-I found success just learning the timing of the roll to dodge the hit, the hitbox seems to be in front of him so rolling underneath him during the attack is safe (its a tight timing window) or you can just put that shield up and fight in the shade

-The other is his tail spin, exactly like Behemoth, just step back and let him do it. He doesn't full 360 closer to 310 but this move can surprise cart you

-AT NG regenerates spikes like it's going out of style. He does the doom dive bomb more frequently so watch out.
-This is where the bombs come in. Not only are you gonna place them in the room before you agro AT NG, but you're gonna want him to fly/attack into them. It's free damage and can go a long way

-During room 2 of the fight a turf war will happen with another AT. Some people said not to fight him during this. I say this is time for REVENGE and free damage. Try not to hit the other monster during/after this and you should have no problem.

-The longer the fight goes the more aggressive he gets. Cycle mantles against him, you don't want to use them in area 1 [Drop those crystals], hold off until area 2 and use your secondary 1st don't be so dependent on Temporal.

---------------------------------------------------BONUS-----------------------------------------------------------
-If you've done the Lynian Research questlines, get your Gajalaka unity levels up to at least Level 4. They can show up, the rooms they're in vary per run, and they blast AT NG giving you a big opening for free damage

-Don't give up hope. Carting is a part of growing in Monster Hunter. With each cart your power grows. Take breaks, let your brain translate the information into muscle memory. Come back and wear that overgrown hedgehogs skin as a testament to your achievements.

-I haven't done multiplayer yet but I think he's much easier to solo. I beat him once yesterday, using hammer. Then got my♥♥♥♥♥handed to me all day today but then it clicked when I took a break. I beat him 3 times in a row to finish the set.

-The reason I say he's easier solo is because he's much more predictable/easy to control and his HP won't be scaled up in multiplayer, which with the AT bonus is a ludicrous amount.

-If you're still having trouble, watch some people stomp this hedgehog on YouTube, most in less than 10 minutes, some of these are TA aka without mantles or rock drops:

Instead of messing around with gobbler and medicin, use max potions and carry mats for 5 in bag. Put crafting on radial menu. Profit.

Oh and sushi fish scales(+)

That's 7 max potions. Then, take ancient potion and materials to craft another 10. You now have 7 max potions and 11 ancient potions.

Edit : How to alter auto craft. Just move the desired auto craft method to the back of other of its crafting recipe.

You can also go a refill between each phase. If you did the Gaja Chief Sidequest in the Witcher Collab, there's a higher chance a gaja trap will spawn, and more gajas will spawn with it. Also, for the Turf War, Kush is the best monster to get to show up

For greatsword - find a ledge, ledge hop into aerial attacks.
You can dismount and continue ledge hopping, or finish it for a free True Charged Slash.
A master mounter charm can work wonders with this, same with Earplugs. Interestingly, Bazel Coil A has both of these combined.
And, make sure your greatsword has a health augment.

Light Bow Gun, evade distance. So long as you're in an open area and don't roll into obstructions, you can avoid every single Fade Away Nergi does with dodge rolls. Moves you clear of the hit box.

Good tips.
I solo'd AT Nergrigante twice and beat him 4 times with a pub.

The last 3 times was with the best pub group I've ever been in:
1. A sleep hammerer [callsign: Sleazy-something]
2. A charge blader [callsign: Kul-something]
3. A light bow gun user [callsign: Elys-something]
4. me, a HH main

Thank you guys for 3 great runs.
We literally destroyed AT Nergrigante.
I think if your team knows what they are doing, multi is far easier than solo-ing AT Negrigante.

lance and guard +3 (prefable +5) will ♥♥♥♥ on him in turtle mode~

dont get to greedy and the win is in your bag. Health augment and vigor wasp for the palico are a great help to recover the chip dmg while blocking though.
You're wrong about, "over committing" nergi can cancel almost any move and go straight into the pepega slam (multiple times if it wants), leaving you wondering what/how did that happened.

If anyone is having trouble just go N2 LBG or Clusters, better cheese it before it cheeses you as the fight was badly done.

You left out the EZ mode weapon setup....

Evasion Set Kjarr Water HBG....

Piercing makes AT Nerg a joke

It's not that 'you can solo it' it's that it's easier if you solo it.

This got me thinking... Cirri set has most of these things, including Free Element 3.
