Legiana runs away
I tried to solo kill Legiana for the first time with my switch axe and had them so close, but then they flew away, and on the last time when they probably had like next to zero health left they leave the whole area and I have to hunt a new one from scratch.

Is that legit going to happen regularly in this game? Because that is bs, I cannot be bothered going through the whole hunt again, when nothing is guarunteed, he could easily just fly away again, and I waste hours with not even any rewards or materials to show for it?

Dumb af.

Just get to a point where you get a Legiana quest, hunting things in Expeditions is ill advised unless you can kill things in 5 minutes or less.

Never hunt for parts in expeditions when you're undergeared or bad. You should see expeditions as a free roam mode to goof around.

Investigations or maybe even optional quests are the way to go.

That is something that happens in expeditions, because you have no time limit or cart limit in expeditions. You should always hunt in quests, expeditions are for resource gathering and unlocking palico gadgets.

It's not an expidition, it's the assignment, for Legiana

So everyone projecting assumptions onto me is wrong

I'd also add that if you know a monster is about to run away (when you see the edge of the minimap turn from red to white), then you should hit the monster with a pod that causes a flinch, like piercing, scatternut, thorn, bomb, or crystalburst. Also, flying monsters can be flashed out of the sky (and you should regularly abuse them against anything foolish enough to take to the skies).

If you're losing hunts because it takes you longer than 50 minutes to kill a single monster, then you really need to work on your offensive capabilities, whether that involves being more aggressive, upgrading your weapon, bringing a different weapon, utilizing more traps, or changing up your armor for more offensive skills.

Monsters only leave the zone in actual quests if they're not the primary target. Don't hunt non-primary targets.

And don't hunt in expeditions.

Quest targets do not leave the area during quests. They will only retreat to their nests in order to sleep and recover hp. Monsters leaving the area entirely only happens in expeditions or if they're not the primary target of the quest. Those are just facts of the game.

ITS NOT A SECONDARY TARGET. IT IS THE QUEST. FOR HUNTING THE LIGIANA

Then it didn't leave the zone.

AND IF THEY DON'T LEAVE THE AREA, THEN WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ HAVE I JUST WASTED TWO ATTEMPTS HUNTNG ONE DOWN, THEN BE NOTIFIED IT IS LEAVING THE LOCALE, AND THEN NOT BE ABLE TO FIND IT ANYWHERE ON THE MAP?

NO TRACKING

SCOUTFLIES FAIL TO SEE

GAME SAYS HAVE TO TRACK IT DOWN AGAIN
Popcorn Nov 12, 2019 @ 6:56am
Level up ur flies lvl then
Keep gathering tracks
Btw, if its the assignment during an expedition, u might as well go back and do the assignment via yhe quest board, legiana should have a red tag by its icon meaning it cannot run away

Because you're on an expedition, not a hunt.

Getting angrier doesn't make you correct, it just makes you look like a tool.

If it's primary target it will never run away, it either run to different area or return to the nest to sleep
There is only a few quest that primary target run away and legiana aren't one of them

I bet OP failed the assignment and just had the quest automatically dump them into expedition mode back in the coral highlands, and they thought they were still on the quest.
