There's also Anjanath, when he does his firebreath and firesneeze attacks, if you crack him on the nose with sufficient force you'll knock him down, just like Deviljho. Deviljho's counter mechanic seems very easy to exploit compared to other monsters though, you barely need to do any damage while he's raging at you to send him flying over, compared to other moments. Like, most of them are extremely tight with the timing or simply require a hard enough hit to exploit, whereas Deviljho has a huge opening for you to exploit that also doesn't seem to require much damage at all.
Anjanath is about the only airtight example I can think of, though. The rest are circumstancial - like flashing a Diablos into a trip when they "fly" out of a pitfall trap or from being sonic bombed, etc.
There's also moments which I'm sure you're aware of that doesn't specifically cause a flinch, but if you flinch or otherwise interrupt a monster during the animation they'll usually drop a piece of material etc. Like interrupting Tzitzi Ya-Ku when he's flashing, or Pukei Pukei when he's eating stuff, etc. Not quite what you mean, I know...but still.
..and during that mount, I was attacking his obvious weakspot on his chest, while he was fatigued and breathing heavily, ready to be finished from a mount attack, and he suddenly snapped up a hyper speed, evil sounding roar-hiss, and then WHAM killed me, lol.
Deviljho doesn't mess around! I thought I was safe, and he was vulnerable, but instead it was I who was vulnerable..
But yeah, if you hit him during the counter, after the very specific roar-hiss thing he does, you can cause him to fall down if he's enraged - if he's not enraged he just kinda staggers a little, and becomes fatigued for like a second or so.
Good stuff! Want more monsters to have little things like this in Iceborne, rather than just relying on chain KO's, flashpod stuns, and traps anyway.
and I really want to be able to bop banbaro while hes running at me at mach 7
..I imagine it'd look like something out of Looney Toons lol, Banbaro sticking straight up in the air vertically, with his head buried deep in the snow
People REALLY sleep on those things, they have saved me many a time from a tempered elder's big attack or a deviljhos...anything
Doesn't do anything in multiplayer because of the scaling, but popping a redpit at some to make them fall on poor Pukei Pukei underneath it wrecks him instantly. What exactly are those things made of? I always thought they were useful like firecrackers for a distraction that you'll never ever need to use, but...they seem like fists of god lol.
