Buying a Hong Kong made physical copy of the game
I have found a Monster Hunter: World physical copy of the game in one of our local game stores here in the Philippines. I'm planning to buy it this coming weekend.

I noticed that there's a "Made in Hong Kong" tag above the box/case's bar code.

The store clerk said that a steam key is included in the box. He also said that the key would work if I apply it on my Steam account. I'm having second thoughts and doubts for the reason that it has a "Made in Hong Kong" tag.

Will the steam key work if I use it to activate the game here in the Philippines? If it does activate, will I be having problems playing online?

If it activated then you have a legit copy on Steam
But just to be sure ask which region (global or restricted < because of region price), then activated it on site after buying in case it's a scam through Steam website
I might be wrong but I never heard anything about physical copies of MHW on PC (and yeah PC is usually just a piece of paper contain Steam key)

There a no Physical copy for PC. Some reseller still sell the box with just a steam key inside.

Dunno why you want to go that way, maybe a good deal, but the best would be to wait for steam to make a good discount on MHW.

best bet?
1. download the steam app to your phone
2. go buy the mysterious china box
3. try to activate while seller is present
4. if it doesnt work -> beat the crap out of him

Thanks for all your responses! I guess I'll just get the game directly on Steam to be safe. The physical copy that I found is just about 8% cheaper anyway so I guess it's fine.

Steam sales in 7 day, just wait and get your 34% sales tag or 50% if you're lucky
Additionally you can check isthereanydeal website on summer sales to see somewhere else is cheaper

any grey market stuff is generally not advisable .. just like with microsoft keys . better to buy from the source

IIRC you missed the sale by 1 day :(

there is a place where you can search for if there "is there any deal" and it links to official steam reseller websites.. but im not sure if i can provide the link here.. also steamdb.info lets you check the steam history itself so you can get an idea of what might happen in the future
