Anyone got a good support build?
Looking to give a supportive SnS (preferably) or HH build a try since some friends are getting into the game and I don't wanna cheapen their experience by just vaporizing every monster.

I am not a HH main but I do play it occasionally and I use this:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1770427073

It's probably not very updated since I don't always update builds I make for secondary weapons that I play but I think it should be pretty functional.
widerange 5 + speed eating 3 + free meal + mushroomancer 1 + health boost 3 + flinch free 1 for basic support build, the rest is your preference.. earplugs / dmg / crits / divine blessing / tool specialist

with HH and recovery up L + earplugs L buff its really amazing though for everyone

I run the build with health and affinity booster.

you do have mind's eye so you don't need to worry about any attacks bouncing off

you can switch the bazel armor and guard charm for something else

This is what i use https://honeyhunterworld.com/mhwb/?646,113,102,103,100,102,2,health,0,0,32,73,0,90,5,0,42,42,0,90,16,0,16,37,0,16,42,0,3

You can change something if you'll only watch them while keep them alive tho, and i'm pretty sure you can come with something a little better with all the gamma sets that we have atm, i'm just lazy to think about it since i don't use it too much and it work pretty well anyway.

another thing you could do is just play a new character with them too. you are cheapening their experiences by making them think they are invincible with all the healing.

You can just make weaker gear for the fights...
HARNNY Jun 15, 2019 @ 1:09am
just make a new character to play together

If you want to give some support without overpowering you can go with the bazel horn. Focus decos on restore up and recovery, then add in a few attack/tenderiser/crit and sonorous for longer songs.

The horn gives faster recovery boost (L) of red hp, atk boost (L) and hp recover (S).

Preferably with 3 Vaal or 3 Nerg Y for hasten recovery boost. This build means you basically can't die to anything below AT and focuses a bit more on recovery.

I'll post my build later (I'm not at my PC) if you care about a real build, I'm assuming you just want some simple build to help your friends temporarily, this will do.

Edit: Taroth Sleep Horn would be the best for these songs btw if you have it.

Edit 2:

Here is my build that I use for easy survivability. Basically you should be ashamed of yourself if you die using this build in anything other than Behemoth or AT monsters. You put out recovery boost and atk boost, put on the rocksteady mantle and go ahead and spam S heals, it's not so overpowered where you're buffing your friends into Gods with XL Def and Atk etc but it boosts their survivability from multi hits that they may have died from otherwise and you yourself just become invincible (again, not including Behe or AT monsters. Probably can add Kirin in there if you don't know his moveset). Note the Horn is augmented with HP aswell.

This is why Capcom needs to bring back oils for MHW:I. All these ♥♥♥♥♥ SnS players thinking it's a support weapon. :steamfacepalm: Remember, the best way to support your team is to kill the monster.

Edit: Is joke. Well kinda. Just use weaker gear with friends or something.

key things to remember when building.

for all support sets, speed eating 3 and widerange 5, as well as 1 or 2 levels in fungi is mandatory. from there depends which weapon you want to use.

hunting horn is great because you can be the buffing king, but its a good idea to pack quick sheath and evade distance, positioning and the ability to sheath quickly is a high requirement to remain relevant.

depending on what your fighting, guard jewels can be handy for SnS to improve survival. beyond that, aside from the typical meta SnS for support sets, you could run a sleep or para blade to help with the CC and remain relevant, in essence, you help buff damage by locking the monster in place so everyone gets a good whack or lock it down when people need healed.

these are a good baseline, from there it depends on what you want to fight and how you want to be helpful in it. :D

Yes but it's only for rich people.

I can argue against using Mushroomancer for 1 very simple reason: First Aid Meds + Satiated.
If you're already running Gobbler, you don't need any further fast-eating minipots. In fact, I've found the best support setups just bring 10 honey with your 10 mega pots, and craft First Aid Meds+.
If you're worth your salt as a support, you wouldn't (and shouldn't) overheal.
So, First Aid Meds are enough.
Mushroomancer is better if not running Gobbler.

For hunting horn support, evade and quick sheath also are not mandatory if you got good timing.
The key thing I agree on is staying alive. How can a team rely on your support if you cart?
To that effect, I highly recommend at least Vitality 3.
Guard doesn't reduce damage you take when blocking, it only reduces stamina loss and knockback.
A bad support also doesn't attack. Your damage is just as important in a team. So, rather than build full tank, it's a good idea to put some offense into there. I recommend something like this for an offensive support setup. You can swap the weapon to any SnS or HH you prefer, as long as it has 1 slot for Satiated:
http://honeyhunterworld.com/mhwb/?713,103,99,103,116,102,83,0,0,0,73,0,0,68,96,37,12,42,0,90,90,0,16,0,0,57,42,0,2

This set is also easy to acquire, having minimal rare deco requirements and needing only to be HR16 to access Lunastra and Kulve Taroth.
In case you're wondering, I personally run just Gobbler 2 since I find it fast enough. Saves on decoration slots, and allows me to hit harder while providing the same support.

mushroomancer is typically for the lazy mans immunizer effect for HP recovery that lasts longer than jerky. beyond that being able to turn easy to acquire shrooms into mega drugs. but your right it probably wouldnt fall under mandatory, but a decent side option.
