Xeno'jiiva Lore Theory
The MHW story's conclusion is pretty sad, really, when you think about it. You have this baby Elder Dragon that's just been born into this world, yet you have to kill it not because it itself is innately harmful but because of how the makeup of it's body could adversely affect the world of Asterea. So you slay it before it can even leave the crystal cave it was born in.

This Elder Dragon was born from crystals growing in the center of the mountain, so it had no parents, and didn't therefore know any kind of parental love/affection. You, as the player, are essentially the first and last living thing it comes into contact with during its brief period of life. And you are given the final task of putting an end to it's short life.

It's sad, but also bittersweet, because the memory of the creature lives on with it's name and its set of armor, which has the appearance of an angel, and it's Set Bonus Skill, Xeno'jiiva Divinity. It's (arguably) one of the most beautiful alpha/beta tier sets in the game you can get, possibly to commemorate the creature of such beauty for which the world was not ready for.

That's just what I think, and I could be wrong. But thinking that makes me feel a lot less angry when I'm carting to his AT form.

Here's all the official loore we know on Xeno, with sources being in game or the MHW Artbooks:

Xeno'jiiva is called the "Dark Light Wyvern", due to the luminous organ seen on it's chest. This organ is connected to it's front legs and tail, allowing it to disperse high amounts of energy to attack
Due to it's transparent skin, you can see the energy flow through it's body
When it gains enough energy, it enters "Critical State" (臨界状態), which allows it to glow more brightly than usual.
When Xeno'jiiva reaches this state, it's believed that Xeno'jiiva does not need to eat any more, burning off all the energy it managed to absorb
The Xeno'jiiva encountered in the main story is confirmed to be a baby, however, all other Xeno'jiiva encountered are more matured than the first encountered Xeno'jiiva; Xeno'jiiva, however, is able to enter it's special "Critical State" almost immediately emerging from it's cocoon
While elders are attracted to the New World to die, many don't immediately, those that don't become Tempered and Arch Tempered, being able to absorb some of Xeno's bioenergy
Xeno's transparent skin as actually white, and it's believed that over time after leaving the cocoon that it shed's it's transparent skin.

Xeno share a similar trait to Vaal as well. Both seem to absorb the bio energy around them.

maybe in master rank we'll get a grown up xeno or a variant.

Is master rank gonna be above Arch Tempered? Have they talked about how they're gonna balance it all out?

I personally hate the way the armor looks, but everyone has different tastes.

It's also kind the weakest elder dragon fight, in my opinion. Was kind of a let down final big-boss fight for the story.

It's a good thing we killed it, too. While it's a pretty easy fight for us hunters, I can imagine lore-wise it would've destroyed pretty much any monster it got into a fight with. That goku-style beam would probably burn alive a lot of stuff.

Yeah, that thing was only in it's infant stages. At adolescence, it'd probably give our old buddy Zorah a run for the money.

I wonder if the "old everwyrm" is going to tie into xeno somehow.

Either way, I think its for the better xeno died. Imagine if it was allowed to mature more. What if it gets hungry and flies to astera?

Or just chases something and tramples astera?

Or sneezes too hard and blows a laser through astera?

"You, as the player, are essentially the first and last living thing it comes into contact with"
iirc nergigante had a plan ( or it was basically his purpose of life without any concious awareness ) to keep other elders away from dying there / killing elders in order to keep xeno starved.

the story of old everwyrm kind of follows the same concept as the main game. velkhana calling all the legiana to freeze the land in order to keep the old everywyrm in bay.
i just hope the everwyrm is a better fight.
AT luna, teo and nergi were fun. xeno and vaal were incredibly boring.

Yeah, but I wonder if xeno dying/xeno attracting zorah and causing him to kaboom woke up the everwyrm, or something like that

Yeah, me too. I hope it's not just a reskin of the old Xeno fight with a few new movesets. For that matter, a Xeno-sized enemy fight out in the wild (not instanced like the behemoth) would be a welcoming new addition as well. Just ... probably would be hell to program.

When you consider foreign languages, Xeno'Jiiva can be translated as something like "Alien Soul" or "Alien Life", and IIRC there are hints suggesting that Xeno is the Sapphire Star, along with it somehow luring monsters to the New World to die, so it could absorb/feed on their bio energy.

If anything, ol Xeno is closer to Lavos than some innocent child. An alien being, using this worlds natural life to it's own advantage, even if it means messing everything up to do so.

Yup
Just copypaste xeno's skeleton 3 times clipping through himself, and give zorah xeno beams. Close enough right?
