It was confirmed in the 2nd dev diary (I believe) that you will not be able to change your hunter's name.

How hard is it to choose a name you like though?

while i think its good that you can't change your name (makes tracking much easier),, have you not see how often people change their steam names for example ... ALOT

Choosing a name you like isn't hard. Choosing a name you "will" like later is another matter, especially if you find out at HR+100 that you actually misspelled your otherwise identifiable name.

Picolo: "I named my character after the best character in DBZ!"
Other Player: "Did you mean to spell it with only 1 'C'?"

There is a way to change your name..but uhh. it requires CE. Odd how a simple program will let you do it, easily, but capcom won't.

Don't know why something so simple has not been added to the game.

i mean in the past games you never even had the option to change your gender or remodel your face, you made a character, named it and that was permanent. hairstyles were eventually changeable.

i dont get why people have to be able to change their name for a game like this... it really doesnt matter in the end. i just use my common handle either full or short pending on character limit (in one past title i was XiloTheO because it didnt mention that there would be a limit...)

if you named your character AAAAAAA or ASDFH well, maybe not face mash when asked to name your character?

it is annoying when u have a male character with a strong voice wearing AT zorah set named Vivian.

By that logic why allow you to change anything? no hairstyles, no looks, even, you should be stuck with what you have. People make mistakes, or simply have changed minds. but only one part is cut off.
