We finally were able to get a recording of Velkhana's theme song, and it sounds REALLY funky

World have some of the weakest theme out of all MH titles. The remix one also not good either. They are sort of low tune and random instruments being throw in the mix.

This theme is just feel so random. They tried to make it feel more like Amatsu theme but failed here.

I think they tried to limit their instruments, and in the process really hurt the music overall. Different monsters work better with different instruments, nergigante and bazel happened to do great with horns, but other monsters could use other themes.

Imagine astalos's theme without the electric guitar, or nakarkos's without the organ, its just not right

Nah I think it's more of the vocal minority in this thread, most of the old OST's being re-orchestrated sound amazing and alive as they now have the funds to afford it, That video above has 1,200 : 17 votes, people love it.

These arent from the game is the thing. It's not a game OStsong, it's a cover of the song designed to be listen to on a CD or whatever, not be hunted to

I couldn't care less how they do it, I just want some variety, so many of the themes sound too similar imo. Many have literally no personality. Val's, nerg's, bazel's and the desert ones are the only that really stand out to me, *maybe* xeno, the rest are all way too similar imo.

Would it hurt to add a few more sounds? No. Are the old ones better? Some, but that probably has to do more with the monster count. Sure, you may like the old zinogre theme, but thats kind of negated by khezu's legendary theme, and so on

edit: They may have the same sounds, but it isn't the same, like, 3 sounds that world uses. Looking back there is definitley more by 3, way more by 4, and generations is well...generations

They literally used the same soundfont for old themes for YEARS, you can tell which generation a song is from by the sound font, Gen 5 has as much variety as past games; I will agree with ceadeus, but that was due to Tri actually having an orchestra play for it's OST (something 3U/P3rd didnt have, and sure as hell 4th gen didnt have, but GenU actually got Frontier team members to assist with production)

True lol, just seems like a shorter loop. Final product could also differ, especially if she has phase 2 or rage state music

I will say that with how good Zinogre looks that Mizutsune would look amazing in World and to finally see how they deal with each other in a turf war based on Mizutsune lore would be pretty awesome. Zinogre looked like it was dominating Rathalos without even using it's electricity, yet Mizursune are supposed to be so well adapted to running circles around Zinogre that it's almost like a game to them. Would be cool if these 2 species regularly sparred with each other so much that a respectful rivalry formed would cause one to actually defend the other from Hunters with a joint attack similar to Lunastra and Teostra in place of a traditional turf war.

Those metal covers are so good, the val one would fit perfectly if he ever got a variant.

Rivalries are always fun to see, maybe in the future we could get bigger ones like that.
