Vaal Hazak - Total BS. Advice Needed.
~Has Effluvial Expert :skyelaugh:
~Gets Effluvium Sickness that reduces HP bar to 1/3 while draining it. :angry_creep:
Seems legit. :misterghost:

In some other threads about this boss a bunch of people were being total unhelpful hipster ♥♥♥♥♥ saying "this is the easiest elder dragon" hurdurr aren'tIsocoolguyslookatmyepenswingingaround. If this is you, go away.

Easiest? Nope. This is about the storyline mandatory solo fight VS these 3.

~Kushala Daora I beat 1st try almost failed carting 2 times... It's total BS that I had MAX 5 ranks (using almost all my gear to spec this) of Windproof gear but still got blown around like I didn't have any, even died twice after big hits and the debris in the wind killed me... WHILE I WAS BLOCKING WITH LANCE. But still defeated it just barely.

~Teostra I beat 1st try and carted 2x also here. I had Fire Resist max (3 ranks) gear, should have had Blast Resist max gear also I now know, difficult to approach and the whole area was constantly exploding and I could hardly tell where was safe to stand and where was not, especially toward the end, but not a super difficult fight.

TBH Bazel is on par with these 2 as far as being a PITA to fight.

But I go to fight Vaal Hazak. Have Effluviul Expert on my skirt, I immediately get Effluvium sickness or w/e it's called. WTF is even the point of having skill gear if Kushala and Vaal are going to completely ignore that I have it?!?

In another post someone mentioned "several ranks" of protection to be immune. But...
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1858859881

Show me where there's multiple ranks of protection.
Either the game is lying, which wouldn't be the first time it has done so so far, or there's another skill on a set of gear you need that I haven't seen yet, which undoubtedly I would need to kill this A-hole to get FIRST so that I can kill this A-hole because that's MH's catch-22 mechanics.

SOooooooo.....
Does stacking Effluvial Expert 3 times actual work, despite it not showing 3 ranks, or is there another skill I'm supposed to have to negate it? Or am I just supposed to eat a nullberry literally every 10 seconds negating my attack window, and needing 1,000,000 of them?

Wrong skill. The one that negates Vaal's miasma has three levels.

Edit:
Ninja'd.

Next time, press Select. It shows that the skill does.

Also something tells me you did not upgrade armor?

I also wonder why you are fighting mons w/o upgraded armor.... >.>

Cool. Different skill. I'll just eat nullberries until then.

hurdurr easiest eldar dragon for range weapon user, because you are never in the dangerzone of his attacks and can simply dogde his highly telegraphed rush attacks with a sideroll.

you dont need to care about his gimmick if he never hits you.
cleanser tool or nullberries may help until you have killed him a few times to craft his boots which have already 2skillpoints miasma, so you only need another common decoration to obtain immunity again his pest.

imo anjanath bow is the best tool to kill him quick and cheap.

sidenote use torchpod slinger ammo and fire it on the ground to remove the miasma for a small amount of time.

It's not hard to find miasma decos before Vaal. All my characters got them without farming on purpose.

Instead of spending at least 3mins writing an essay on here. Could of just spent 1min & googled it.

If you want to win, speed be damned, I recommend leading Vaal away from the gas clouds he makes. They do a lot of damage over time even if you have max effluvium resist. Don't fight him in the clouds if at all possible even though trying to kite him in this way takes some time.

Bring a health booster and put your cat on vigorwasp duty if you aren't already doing so. Also, if the miasma mechanic is still too much of a hassle, you could always use Teostra's hunting horn for the ailment negation, but that's kinda last resort.

Effluvial Expert protects you from the DOT in the lower regions of the vale and it reduces damage from the acid pools found there. Effluvia Resistance protects you from the health zapping ability of Vaals vape cannon. Use both when fighting him.

Until you can get the skill, try to stay close to his front legs so you're not on the business end of his mouth, and when he rears up to drop the vape cloud then RUN AWAY. If you can't run away in time, the superman dive will protect you from it. Both attacks have a huge wind up, they're easy to watch for and avoid. To negate damage from the DOT cloud Vaal likes to drop, either move out of the cloud or drop a health booster.

Oh, also, the 'All Ailments Negated' song on the Teo Orphee hunting horn just completely neuters it.

Get the torch pods when leaving camp 11 and fire them at the floor near vaal hazak to help mitigate some of its gas along with the normal DoT of rotten vale.
cruste Sep 9, 2019 @ 12:59pm
you could also use a pokemon trainer build to let your palico fighting him
use palico rally 5 + widerange5
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2p9MICAPrA
combine it with a range weapon to add some extra dmg
or simply use a sos and focus on staying alive

Just a note for Kushala, u need wind negate to stop his wind pressure, its the 3 set on his armour. All wind resist does is prevent knock down from monsters flapping their wings - not really worth it tbh.

also you don't need to fight any of them solo, you just have to have watched the cutscene
