is Cheat Engine bannable if online, but not playing with others?
After spending hundreds of hours on PS4, I recently moved over to PC, and... really REALLY don't want to do EVERYTHING again. I know there are CE tables which well.. cheat for you, making the entire process far easier. I also know that people have been banned for using them.

Does anyone know if those people cheated while in groups, or does the system just catch everyone regardless of whether you're in a party or not?

So far nothing you do can get you banned. Dont blame Capcom if you mess up your save file tho. The only thing that can happen is them putting you a offline lobby but you can just reconnect without problem

Wait really? I've read in one of the CE threads that you could get banned for using it. Maybe not though. That's good to hear, thank you!

Speaking of save files, where is this game's located so I can back it up?

Oh I am never going to play with others while doing it. But, I know the game, I've been playing Monster Hunter since MHFU on PSP, and put roughly 400 hours into MHW alone, so it's not like me skipping content now will affect my end game performance. I will of course run fights legit solo before joining up with others for end game though.

You won't be banned, but it's better to say "Capcom hasn't done anything -yet-". The forum moderators also aren't Capcom, which could result in a forum ban should the moderate not condone your blatant cheating. As far as the game is concerned, there's no way of knowing if/when Capcom will do something about cheaters. They've already quoted what "isn't" considered cheating in regards to modding, so it's not like they aren't aware of the easily available cheat programs.

As for "how" they could deal with cheaters, there could already be a system in place that keeps track of things such as modified stats, items in shops that shouldn't be there and loot drops that shouldn't happen outside the rotational event timeframe. Capcom flips the switch, repeat offenders accounts are flagged and for simplicity sake all the identified cheaters names change to a different color for anyone online to see. They could even add an option to hide your lobby and SoS from flagged cheaters as well as not see theirs on the list that would be default turned on so that you can only play with cheaters if you actively want to.

Not forgotten my promise to the cheaters of the game. Though in all honesty it'd be an empty apology seeing as how I'm confident it's not a matter of "if", but "when" I get to go back on my apology with an "I told you so!" speech. I already have a musical backdrop to the speech prepared. :steamhappy:

In addition to cheat engine, consider using a save editor to try and recreate everything you had on the console version.

Oh that is fantastic! I had no idea this existed. How risky is getting items I wouldn't have ingame access to yet?

nobody has every gotten banned for anything. quality of life and cosmetics mods seem to be generally accepted as being ok to have, some might even recommend it. some things like dps meter seems to be in a gray area, some don't care for it, other see it as cheating. however anything that affects gameplay is generally frowned upon like 1hit KO, 999HR worth of exp in one hunt etc... if for whatever reason you have to use mods or cheats that the general player base condemns, do it in single player and turn it off or remove it when you hop on multiplayer. that way what you do will not affect others.

I'm not sure, but it should be fine. The game only prevents you access by hiding and stopping the ability to craft/buy. It doesn't do any inventory checks to make sure you're allowed something.

If you're concerned try using cheat engine auto/instant quest complete hack and rush the story. Should unlock all items that way.

I'm not sure if there's a way to skip cutscenes in cheat engine, but that would be a nice one to look for.
