Why do all monsters see through the ghillie mantle?

Was just vsing Kushala Daora and needed to craft more Mega potions. So I put on my ghillie mantle and start crafting, only for it to immediately charge at me and kill me. My palico wasn't even next to me so you can't say it was aiming for it and I was in the way.

This isn't the first time this has happened either. At first I thought it might because I had to break line of sight or something but now I realise sometimes the ghillie just won't work.

The idea is, they cannot see you but can smell or sense sth suspicious where you are. So wear it then get some distance, do what you need, and move + do sth else u need, and move again. If they home in on your location, they will smell it for some seconds, then try to attack at that location.

Unfortunately I still haven't figured out how to do that yet. I tried holding Q to open the radial menu then I hover over the mega potion, but I don't know what to press to actually craft it.

You need to put a crafting command in the radial menu if you just want to craft it instead of craft AND consume it. Then you just let go off the stick.

You need to open your menu and hit the "Customize radial menu" button. Here you need to assign crafting mega potions as a command.

I thought it was just that gillie mantle & traps didn't work against elder dragons?

With the radial you can craft while stunned.

if you're taking so much damage that you need 20 mega potions you'd probably be better off replacing that honey + potions with a farcaster and more space for max pots, hot unsolicited take

?Ehhh you cant have double stacks of that unless you mean having the craffting ingredients for that but err far casters are really easy to make for restocsk.

are you crafting megas directly from the menu? you know you can set crafting to radial menu and craft while on the move right? ghillie mantle is a waste of a valuable tool slot. i wouldn't use ghillie mantle outside of research point farming or in specific and niche tactics.

The mantle is only effectuve if you actually break LoS after putting it on. Ive seen to many people put it in and stand still right in front of the monster.

Traps don't work but Ghillie works fine on EDs. Case in point is using the Ghillie Pull tactic on Luna.

Was waiting for someone to get to Kirin, so tried ducking into a bush to give them time to reach the area. I’d never seen any critter sniff me out before, but with the music change and it gradually homing in on me it creeped me out a bit.

Thanks! I was aware of traps but was told gillie didn't either. I don't use it much but like having correct info & may find a use at some point.

Yeah it works on ED's.

I often use it to farm tracks from Nergigante Investigations to keep my TED's topped up.
