Unless you are planning on using the Close Range Ammo a majority of the time, you don't need some of these skills.
Health Boost 3 isn't really needed. As a bow, you are kinda dancing in and out of the monster's range. But it is very unlikely you are going to be hit in a party of four. Especially when the monster is unlikely to turn its attention onto you for a good deal of time. This fits better if you are going to be spending time in melee where you are in constant danger of getting knocked on your ass. Or against Lunastra who's Supernova will wreck your HP.
Critical Draw 3 REALLY confuses me. While you will be chugging up potions. You're not going to benefit from this as often as you think. The bow doesn't have the hit and run play style like a Great Sword, or Long Sword. EDIT: I looked it up. It looks like it can be used with dragon piercer. Still... I'm not sure if this is worth having. When you can probably spend the same effort to raise affinity by some other means and have it be constant.
Speed Eatting 3 can be reduced to Speed Eatting 2. Maybe... I have not done a bow build. I am usually able to get by with just 2. But that's mostly because my weapon sheaths a lot faster than a bow. On sword and shields, it's done in no time at all. And unfortunately, from what I've noticed Speed Eatting does not effect how quickly others are healed. Granted, feel free to leave this at three. Because when ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan... and you need to save yourself quickly - you can probably keep yourself from getting carted.
Stun Resistance is a weird one. I concider Stun Resistance "All or Nothing". You should avoid being attacked in the first place with superior ranged. But you can always get hit by something you did not see from range like Kirin's thundercalp. Most of monsters follow ups happen before Stun 2 can save you. In tempered fights, the follow ups will amost always kill you. Its best to make sure it never happens. Or replace it with something that can save your butt when ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan. Resuciate, Crisis, etc.
Some things I recommend...
Weakness Exploit: Cheap to Build. 30% affinity to weak points. There's two armor pieces in my memory that provides two points of this. The Eyepatch, and some piece off of Rath. You need to reposition yourself better to fire down the length of a monster. If you were going for MAX DEEPs there's more gain than loss. Normal shots are effected, not just drawn shots.
Peak Performance: You'll be able to benefit off it, as you'll probably be able to stay healthy far longer than your team.
Mushroom Mancer 1: The Blue mushroom is basically a instant Normal Potion. If you want higher levels, then you can get some buffs like Armorskin, and Demondrug out of it.
Critical Boost 2 and 3: Crit Boost 1 isn't worth the trouble. Up to two and three and you're gonna hit like truck.
Earplugs: try to keep this if you can. If you got a HH buddy who's dropping the Earplug L doots, it's not a problem. Buuut a few monsters do actually roar, stun you, and immediately deck you in the face when you can't escape.
does stun res block the "star effekt"?
what chest would you recommend?
Cera Coilbender has a negative starting affinity, so that's actually the main reasoning behind Crit Draw - combined with Maximum Might, you can reach 100% affinity consistently.
As far as skills go,
Mandatory
- Critical Draw, to bring Affinity from -30% to 70%
- Maximum Might or Critical Eye, combined with Critical Draw to raise Affinity to 100%
- Piercing Shots, for damage on Dragonpiercer
- Special Ammo Boost, for damage on Dragonpiercer
Useful
- Peak Performance, as mentioned it's easy for archers to maintain
- Critical Boost, going from 125% [default critical damage bonus] to 140% isn't that big an improvement, but it can be nice.
Defensive
- Earplugs, for the occasional free shot
- Health Boost, because Dragonpiercer leaves you vulnerable, which means that you'll get hit at times thanks to random aggro jumps
- Divine Protection, same as above
You also seem to want Wide Range + Speed Eater? Best I can come up with is this:
Nergigante Helm β
Kulve Taroth's Ire α
Empress Vambraces β
Tzitzi Coil β
Empress Greaves α
Draw Charm II
Without decorations, that gets you Wide Range 5, Maximum Might 2, Critical Boost 2, Health Boost 2, Critical Draw 2. You also get Stamina Cap Up from two Lunastra pieces. There are enough slots available to add a Piercing Jewel, to fill in the missing point for Critical Draw and Critical Boost, and to add Speed Eater. Trueshot Jewels can fin into the bow's two slots.
The coil in this set is replaceable with any, if you see other skills you want to pick up.
First of all, thanks
For This build i try to get survival and support stuff first, i am not here for max DPS on the Dragonpiercer. I want to survive easily and then fit as much dmg as possible.
so health boost 3, earplugs 5, stun res 3 and the bazel set bonus help a lot
i think as far as regular MHW goes, this is the optimal build or atleast very close to it.
i think i have to wait for iceborne :/
or maybe find a replacement for the bazle parts, i dunno
