If I were you, I would use a different, faster weapon, like a Longsword to hunt Nergigante.
If you really want to stick with the Greatsword, you have to predict his movements (especially his one shot dive of annihilation) a little bit, so that you can react in time.
What I mean is, if you see his spikes turn black, you should put away your Greatsword and be ready to run and jump out of the way of his dive attack.
Totally agree mate. Got around 500 games with GS but 0 attempts v AT Nergi because I'm not a total masochist. Those windup times v his quickpounce slam.. thats oof.mp3 material right there.
Now when you first run up to him, equip your rocksteady mantle, this give you 1-2 TCS on the get go. After those you might wanna unequip it because if you get double clipped from 1 attack you might cart. Use a hit and run strat until he changes location, run in, attack depending on the timeframe he's giving.
When he changes location, equip temporal mantle and go ham, just watch out for his jabs.
Teo/ kush should arrive as well, let them turf war and take advantage of it.
Next location is in the lava area. You can use the evasion mantle in this fight.
Next fight your temporal should be up again in the downard slope lava area.
Next is the lava geiser area. You can get some free damage from the geiser if you're lucky.
After that he should be nearing limp fase. This is where you wanna drop the stalactites on him (since he moves to the starter location). Pick up some crystalburst and hit him everytime he wants to run.
If you dropped both stalactites, consider letting him move the the next area and use the ledge to get a mount on him. (a great way to add to mounts is taking a might pill as soon as he falls/ you dismount during your airtime)
Just keep staggering him with crystalburst everytime he tries to run to so you have more space to dodge opposed to his lair.
The key to this is only using charge and strong charged slashes when your temporal mantle is down (unless he's knocked down of course).
Learn to dodge his pounce, his jabs and the 180 slam. (I learned using evade window 1 but don't need it anymore) It's really easy once you get the hang of it.
If he winds up his tail spin, just block.
If you get hit and need too heal, keep dodging until he focusses his attention to your palico. That way he won't finish you during the animation.
I have sheathe 1 as well.
My kill times are usually around 20-25 mins
You can do it with Great Sword in a very safe fashion. Make a crit draw build with quick sheathe, focus, max crit boost, evasion and maybe vitality. If you don't have enough decorations to get all these, just focus on quick sheathe, focus, and crit draw. That's probably the safest way you can play with GS, allows for very fast hit and run attacks, and will allow you to roll through attacks if things get too hot. Not the most efficient way of doing damage, but it's reliable and will get you through the fight no problem.
Grab a lance, mate. Easy to learn once you get over the initial awkwardness. Poke poke block. Just make sure to have a heal augment going as putting it away might get you rekt

Looks like you need to be very aware of the animations if you use the GS, it has so much down time if you miss. Good luck!

Lol im like 70 hours in, no way I can do most of those. Gonna need more practice it seems.
2) have health boost 3 and stun resistance 3 (since you're so slow, you will be getting hit quite a bit)
3) Use ceiling rocks to drop him down and do your combo
4) use mounting in the next zone + don't interrupt turf war
5) in a lava zone, start using mantles. Aim for the head or tails. Don't be under him with GS, you will get hit easily with his tail/paw swing attacks.
6) try to knock him down (skill for know down helps)
7) palico with shield and para weapon will do you good.
8) don't spam your combo. I played with Dual Blades and even then I couldn't spam attacks with my mobility, because if he lands a sweep attack and follows it up with slam ==> carted.
9) draw skill will be good too, since he moves a lot and won't let you just attack (if you do that, chances are you're gonna be healing more than fighting)
P.S. you'd prefer to get hit by slam attack first before anything else, cause the rest of his moveset is easily dodgable. Slam is a bit too fast. So, if you get hit by something else, don't heal straight away => always expect his accursed slam move.
Ive done behemoth and managed to solo tempered kirin and completed all the other tempered elders. Its the arch tempered that I cant seem to beat so far.
But anyways, seems like I just need to git gud or try the Crit draw build since Im to slow to react so far.
