I am nto sure why people call it a parry but its not a parry. If a monster (EA ANja, has two move sequence, you're still gonna get hit.

You do an initial attack first (e.g. right-click tap or left-click), then it's LCTRL + Right-click

Foresight slash. Atm you can use it after almost any attack but roundhouse slash if I’m not mistaken. Most people use the right click thrust as it is quick and allows the user time to use the FSS as a monster charges etc. If the monster has a two hit combo etc you will still get hit from time to time as Nali said but if you do manage to pull it off and connect with the initial counterattack you can then combo into a roundhouse slash for a “free” power upgrade providing you aren’t already red. This can be done with any attack including roars.
The FSS will be nerfed come iceborne though and spirit meter (the red bar inside the sword icon not the outer fortification) will be required to perform foresight and the new iai slash
