Still too expensive!!
I will consider getting this game when it gets down to 66% or 75% discount, which I think is a reasonable price for a year old game with repetitive gameplay. At the moment I still consider it too expensive for the likely time I will get out of it (probably around 30 odd hours).

Getting 30 hours to completely finish the game?

Sure, if you blitz it in single player for the story.
But Monster Hunter was always about teaming up online and hunt down creatures together, either for the rewards or as a challenge.

And this is where the game can rack up hundreds of hours, as long you enjoy the game.

I don't think you need to "blitz" through the story and wind up with less than 30 hours. More so if you know the core mechanics of the game I.E you played the older games. I mean the "story" only took me 20 hrs and I was taking my time, lol ... At least I felt I was :/.

Also MH has not always been about multiplayer, thats still kinda new. The game was a huge solo fest up untill gen 3 and even then the connectivity was bad, very very bad :(. This game totally changes that and for the better, though the severs still are butt sometimes.

I think he too could get more than 30 hrs in the game, if he can find people to enjoy the game with or if he gets caught up in the hunt like the rest of us, if not. I mean the game hits 25 usd A LOT, he could just wait till then XD.
Well actually since the PSP days it was intended to be mainly a co-op game. Monster Hunter became as big as it is primarily because of how popular it was in local multiplayer in Japan. People would play with strangers on the train and in cafes dedicated to Monster Hunter. It just didn't catch on in the West because of the much lower population density. Quests in the gathering hall were scaled to be played multiplayer, hence why they took so much longer to complete.

Online multiplayer became a thing around gen 3, MH however has always been marketed and intended to be played with other people. World does give more flexibility in that regard in that if you decide to play alone, you can play the whole game(with the exception of event quests) without one chunk of the game being scaled up.

Steam price created by user's need.
Bigger need bigger price

I just got my 30 hours. I did not saw 2/3 of monsters yet. But I have 2 nice armor sets like 6 decent to my rank weapons. And played a lot of fun missions with randoms.

30 hours makes me laugh. I fondly remember spending over 1200 hours on Tri on the Wii.

I support the game so i don't mind pay for full price. You should be thankful because pc version actually cheaper than console.
Lol, both the loading time and the price xD

People getting offended when someone talks negatively about the game.

Have you forgotten about the RNG in Kulve ? Im sure the hours spent on that monster were fun
When talking about ATKT, i gave up. Behemoth was more fun, so my bro and i just join randos on it, its hilarious when ppl die to him so easily (yes we do bring lifepowder)

here is the deal.iceborne is coming in january.you will not see the base game go below the price of a master edition when the expansion alone will be 40$.
iceborne's master edition price will mostly dictate the price for the base game once its out.
so, aslong as the master edition will be 60$, expect the base game to not drop below 20.
and even then, when future sales happen, they'd rather bank on the fact people will buy the whole pack for a 40-50 before dropping just the base game.

there will be another sale or 2 before iceborne comes out, especially during winter, but they'd be stupid to sell it below a price that would make the master edition worth less then buying both games seperated.

No,

MHW owners will purchase IB for 40 USD.
No MHW owners will purchase IB + MHW for 60 USD.

MHW without Iceborne will be pulled from store.

Thats how it went on the console versions, thats probally how it will go to steam.
*Bump*
I mean, srsly, would u still pay 70€ worth for base AND ib or 60€ worth of base AND ib? By OPs logic, probly (sarcastically) the former

Honestly If you are only gonna play this game for 30 hours don't get it. You won't even get to late game in that time and depending on skill might even stop you in early game. Just don't bother really

I who like to explore and collect every single item and kill every single enemy and do it every single time I get to the location . . . the early game will probably take a while, it is not needed to be unskilled to take time through the game (and if I just rush through the game I dont feel like my money was well spent .. like, I spent money just to get there and finish the game? What is the point of not exploring and enjoying the game?).

I think this guy just want to find an excuse to dont buy the game and felt like reassuring to himself by posting on the forum (also maybe finding someone else like him or that agree with some of his statements).

Yup, love the exploration in this game, except that the first time I am in an area I was pretty stressed of getting surprised by strong monsters so there was not a lot of admiring of the details from me. Now that I learned the game a bit better I do spend a lot more time on expeditions just admiring the views and observing the surrounding. Spent a good 15 minutes admiring the wildspire waste from the top of a spire and just observing the large monsters on the map being a part of the ecosystem ^^

Like when I finished Dark Souls 3 the first time, I was playing 1 run with a warrior char and another run with a mage . . . I quit the mage and turned it into another warrior, finished the game first time with first char at 110h with Dragonslayer Greataxe (780dmg), killed Midir at lvl 145 and some 160 hours on that char, with second char at some D Ga 80h (740dmg), 3rd char took me 40h D Ga (710dmg), 4th char took me some 20h( Friede Scythe 650 dmg, Dragonslayer Greataxe 700 dmg), 5th char I finished the game and killed Sister Friede at SL 40 with Demons Fists (450dmg) in some 16 hours doing all bosses first try, including Nameless King and I was killing everything on my way, I was not ignoring normal enemies and just rushing bosses (btw, I just ignored some areas and got to Friede with some 8 estus) but when I got to the other DLC I got up at Gael with lvl 60 but ended lvling up a lot (SL 110 now) because of Midir and I still never managed to kill it in under 90min attempting and never did Midir without Dragonslayer Greataxe (my weapon of choice when things get hard) or with much lower lvl.

DS3 was my first souls game.
To tell the truth, DS2 was my first souls game but . . . I kind of got bored with it and dropped for a long time, finished DS3 some 7 or 8 times, Finished DS1 some 2 or 3 times, played other souls-like games . . . when I got back to DS2 I killed 23 out of 4 bosses and . . . it was not hard, just so boring I quit playing the rest of the game.
