"Squads" and their lack of use on PC
Any chance that Iceborne will provide Capcom kicking Steam to the curb on the social side of the game for PC?

Currently Steam handles it with Steam Groups. Great, join the group, job done. Except... in game this does NOTHING.

Your group doesn't appear as a Squad like it would on PS4 as if you've got your Squad Card and accepted it, and don't have to use the Session ID every time.

Part of the convenience of this is to use the ID once, then just sign into the Session by Squad List from then on... only that's totally redundant on PC, and it never got fixed.

So, have Capcom said anything about fixing this MESS?
Have Steam said about fixing this mess?
If they've not, on a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being ♥♥♥♥ all and 10 being slim... what are the chances it will be working as intended when Iceborne hits PC?
If they don't fix it, is there a mod that fixes it/if there isn't a mod that fixes this... would such a thing be possible and does anyone know how? Cos it would be super popular I'm sure...

Reason I ask is there's a Streamer and her community I play with, so of course having our Squad set up and working as it does on PS4 (Use ID once then just... join from Squad List) would be insanely easier than an ID code EVERY time. If you follow what I'm getting at Xilo

I’ve heard rumours that they are bringing it in but at this point they are only rumours. Unfortunately the internet loves to troll

They are the same on console. If you mean the random squad. Don't expect a random squad to be active or social. Even if they have 50 people.

No no Ye, not random squads I'm talking like, a Squad made of friends or a Streamer setting one up for their viewers - one you can expect to be active. On a PS4 it works, enter the session ID once and then get the squad card, and you can join in 1 click from then on. On PC it's Session ID EVERY time. That's not working as intended.

JamesFace, well rumours are a start...

Xbox worked the same way, I never understood why they didn’t do that on the pc version

Well, it's mainly because it's the first time the MH devs have done PC. So the networking applications are different. It would appear what they chose to do was ask Valve for an API for Steam - All in all not an AWFUL idea - so the hard work would be done for them.

This would allow them to hook up to the steam social stuff. Problem is, APIs are notoriously badly documented and devs who make them don't like dealing with "issues" - they're treated as "Do it yourself" tools. Which leaves Capcom trying to decode what is what, and with that it's no wonder it never quite joined up properly.

i wonder where the problem is, if it is your friend you can simply join his session over the friendlist

My guess is that the idea is over a set-up group of Steam users who follow the same streamer(not sure if there is a limit on the friends list on Steam or not) but not every streamer wants to have all their viewers on their friends list on Steam(hence the groups on Steam and on Discord) so having MHW read at least Steam groups would be really helpful.

Cruste, there's a streamer who runs a squad on PS4 but once IB is out on PC we will be all playing on PC, that's the problem. we aren't all friends, we do however want the "guild" system working.

As Arthum says, a streamer with 150 viewers a day doesn't want everyone and their uncle on their friends list.

Then add said streamer as a friend and join via friends. Otherwise, most streamers just have a comment setup and use that, copy paste, takes 1 seconth.
