Accepting Our New Daughters?
So could we have an ending where you give up on your dead daughter and instead appreciate, and accept, the daughters you have recently made with alchemy?

Wouldn't that ruin the point of the game?

Apparantly there is an achievement called 'the pacifist' but I have no clue how in the hell to unlock it. I went through the whole game without killing any daughters (except the two you're forced to do in the tutorial) and grinding FOREVER to raise townsfolk friendship without being able to fullfill any requests. And then just.. nothing. I got the end of the story memoirs but I was still stuck unable to see any ending unless i killed something and did the soul fusion. I still think it was worth it tho just to see if it could be done!
Current theory: pacifist achievement is just a troll to make you think it's possible, lol
You mean the horrible abominations I craft out of garbage? No thank you.

does this mean you're stuck with the defect homunculus if you want to finish it with the pacifist ending? dang..

Well yeah but they max out level pretty quickly and there isn't really a super noticeable difference in how well they make money at the jobs once you figure out their favourite gift and get that +50% bonus. Also I named the default one Stitch and got really attatched to her, lol. I might try that tip and try and grind the even longer route I guess, lol!

only ones I feel bad about killing are the Joy based ones. anger based are dangerous, sadness kinda want to die and Fear live in constant Fear. But joys make great daughters

I feel the worst about killing the sadness ones because of that! Like they're all 'i'm worthless' and 'i should die' and i just wanna hug em and tell them they're wrong. I wish they could blossom into confidence and trashdad alchemist could come to their piano recital and absolutely no murder would occur.

I was thinking of buying the game just to see if playing fully pacifistic could be done because I cannot kill anyone ever and normally avoid games like this one, but the daughters seem so cute. I saw a youtube video of the gameplay and the "failure" one is just the sweetest thing I would adopt forever, so I went to check if I wanna buy it.

I wonder if the pacifist ending has something to do with getting five "daughters" all to level 10 and max affection and then just letting the real dead daughter rot or something? If anyone figures a way out to play without killing the girls you create, lemme know - then I will purchase for sure. Right now, the pretty short playtime this game seems to have, combined with the force-killing, are keeping me away from buying (at least for the current price). If this would be a 25-hour-game, things might be different; I'd buy just to make some playfiles with five daughters each and give them gifts forever. :P

Nope, tried that too. I had five max level homunculi really early into my attempted pacifist run, the levels are kinda designed with the assumption you'll be recycling them often so they max out quickly if you dont. Alas...

oh yeah 15 euro is really exspensive for a game that lasts longer than most tripple a 69euro games if you explore everything in it...

Ah, well then... You know, "pacifistic" for Faust is likely not what the word means for the rest of the world. The achievement shows the giftbox, so it's likely that it has something to do with it. Maybe only killing homunculi with maxed affection? Or making only a minimal number of sacrifices to finish the game/staying below a certain number?

I'm not sure what games you are buying that are all so short, but it seems most people who finished the game and left reviews afterwards did so in 4-6 hours. That is, for me, not a very long game. But definitely to each their own. I'm not a rich person, so I basically calculate 1 dollar = 1 hour of average playtime to make a game worth saving up for when picking my purchases.

Yeah, that's kind of a good point that it isn't very long unless you go hunting for the achievements and stuff. But personally this is the same sort of time range that I expect most indie steam games to be, and I think the super great art style makes up for it with its high presentation values. So I never really felt the price was too much for what you get, its like quality vs quantity yknow?

im not rich too, i just bought the game yesterday and played 4hours and i dont have all clues yet to finish it, thats already the complete lenght of a campaign of a battlefield, cod, SW BF game... this game has beautiful artwork, is something else and if you not only rus through the campaign but get all the endings discover all the different homunculi and get all the not too hard to get archievements you can play at least 10-15 hours, and thats very well worth the little money it costs.

lg

My first toy humunculus told me that she peaked at my journal and saw the reason why I created her. She said she understood what I was doing and was thankful that she could help me. It was pretty sad.

Hmm. The choice of whether to kill the homunculi sounds interesting, but you're saying it's automated? Only 0.3% of players have the pacifist achievement.
