Nice!
I really hope they will release a game like this in the future lol
What other YS game would you recommend for someone who likes the monsters/bosses of this game?
Or maybe even other games?
Please note that Ys VIII is very "dear" to devs that it got enhanced contents, therefore going to others in the series, from number of monsters & bosses or map scale will be smaller, so you might feel down a bit.
Okay, if you like this game, especially the combat, obviously your next destination is:
+ Ys IX Nox Monstrum
And if you want more, but accept dropping in graphics, PSP to VITA era (from 3D down to top-down 2.5D), you will have:
+ Ys Memores of Celceta
+ Ys SEVEN
And if you want further, going back to the Classic 2005, Chibi n Sprite characters, no party or Skills, and Simpler hack n slash with bit of platformer, stamina magic but Absolute Brutal on Nightmare Difficulty, but it is the True experience you should play , you have:
+ Ys Oath in Felghana
+ Ys Origin
After all of the above, I think you can move on, you would only play the rest in the series if you be curious or like the series much by this point, but again the combat will be entirely different too.
-----------------------------------
Now talking about other games
1/ The closest to Ys VIII - obviously Granblue Fantasy: Relink, albeit quite short, depends more on grinding characters and repeatable boss fights.
2/ Next, warning: Gacha F2P - Wuthering Waves, but it is great fun, especially with the boss Hologram challenges, and new monsters in patch 2.0. It will also coming to Steam this April. So far still nothing too egregious requires you to spend, as a F2P you can do the end game fine, albeit it does take time to grind on echoes.
3/ Back to same Ys developer again, but this time with Tokyo Xanadu EX+
The combat will be slower, kind of Souls pacing a bit, but you are still nimble with perfect dodges, air-range-heavy attack, party of 3. The story and map will be Persona-ish, and it has pretty decent boss list too. The only bad thing is you won't get super cheap discount like before due to recent release on Switch console.
4/ If you can do all the Flash Guard in Ys VIII => Don't be afraid of Sekiro, do it, you would love it, then play again without Kuro charm and ringing bell, absolute cinema
=> thereafter you can enjoy similar genre - Lies of P, First Berserk Khazan, if you do BlackMyth Wukong, do it last, w/ higher discount
5/ If you don't mind Metroidvania 2D-side scrolling, then
+ Bloodstained
+ ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights
+ Blasphemous 1 + 2
+ Rabi-Ribi (boss fight focus)
+ Salt & Sactuary (2D Dark Souls, and ignore the sequel).
Wow thank you!! :D
But damn, i wish there would be more games like YS VIII with tons of bosses and the anime style graphics (my steam deck battery last ages with those type of games)
Sadly theres not many of those games out there :D
