"They could have drop it if they would" you seriously don't know how business work right? The moment they dropped this project, they will suffer a lot more damage than fixing this game, it's difficult to port a game on PC yes, but to do it, you must work with the core structure to create a port and apparently they didn't even do that and only realized that it didn't work on beta test few day after release day, then took months (3 delay) to redo the port nearly from scratch along with the translation
And what do you mean by faster? They only handled the localization for consoles version which is made by Falcom, they only took part in publishing and translation for it, NISA works lies on PC port which is average not at fast all
In short: does this game deserve full price? Yes
Does NISA deserve it? No but Falcom is
Not planning to change my rig because of a shoddy port job. No amount of text can change facts.
No crash, no framepacing problem, no glitch, NOTHING.
Ryzen 2600X, 16GB DDR4, 1080Ti.
..and i run this in 6880x2880p. :D
Just buy and have fun, it's a fantastic YS, probably the best one.

Wait, are you saying you have 2 sticks of 4GB running on a single channel? Does your mainboard not support dual channel (weird) or have you just plugged them into the wrong spots?
Played it on 2 different rigs so far. First on an ancient machine still running a Radeon HD 6870 until said GPU died. (Game ran surprisingly well too all things considered). Now on a newer rig sporting a GTX 1070.
Both machines have an Intel CPU though.
In it's current state, I don't feel this is a worse port than what XSEED provided so far.
(It's certainly better than Aksys' localisation of Tokyo Xanadu at any rate)
After 7 months the game was still not 100% playable (which makes it even worse after the fact there was delay to fix the game), then after several patches the game is finally in a decent state (not perfect but at least playable), I don't think my PC couldn't run a 2016 game made for the Vita at first because I could totally play Doom 2016 with mid-to-high settings...
The Ys game overal aren't technically demanding (Falcom isn't a AAA company like Squarenix, they focus more on the gameplay than graphical showcase)
As for the Xseed ports they are all fine... I don't think that Joyoland's Seven port is better (I agree that at launch it wasn't perfect but it also got patches, I think that if it's ok for NISA's Ys 8 then it's ok for Xseed's Ys 7).
I played Celceta on Steam recently and I can assure that the game is better than the Joyoland port...
Also if the game has slowdowns from time to time it's not really that the PC has a crap config, it's literally because the game isn't optimized for some specific setups (like using Win7 + Nvidia could enable some random slowdowns)
I try to not make a long thread but NISA hasn't done a really good work (especially since there were some translation errors for the PS4 version and the Switch port still has issues, and don't say it's because of the Switch because some more demanding game are still running on it and if the vita could run Ys 8 the Switch could as well)
I hope that Monstrum Nox won't meet the same issues and that Falcom will manage to have a team of devs that knows the game engine and PC in general...
PS: dual audio and dubbing is a welcome addition to the game (especially since there are way more cutscenes than the other game) but this isn't required to play the game... Felghana on PC is still playable and the story is still understandable even without the PSP dubs...
Buy Tales of Vesperia or FFXII.
Also the Ys, FF and Tales of series are different (not every JRPGs are the same by the way), so playing Vesperia or FF XII isn't the same as playing any Ys game.
I planned to get a Vita back when Celceta wasn't on Steam... good thing it got a port by Xseed.
I don't have too much problems with the game and I don't think I have an op computer....
"Purchase a $200 console for one game"
"Only rich people with stupidly OP computers don't have problems"
lol
It's probably wisest to pretend that Ys 8 never got localized and wait for a decade or two for a proper remake/localization on the PS 7 or PS 8
