What did you think of the demo?
I enjoyed it on PS4 and will be getting the game on the 12th.

That being said, why didn't they just begin the demo at...well....the very beginning the of the game and let you carry over your save data??? :P

That's how it was on the Vita demo (dat sh*t was amazing as well). No idea why they went with a different area for the PS4 demo.

I think NIS said on a live stream they were making a PC demo, but didn't give a date.

I personally think it's actually better for people who are new to the series to start within an area in the game witch shows more gameplay than story (the first time i in touch with the ys series was the 'ys origin demo' and I was amazed by the gameplay), though I haven't played any of the demos from ys viii yet.
Most JRPGs tend to have a lot of exposition witch may scare off some players.

It doesn't start at the beginning of the game. It's the first real dungeon, a couple hours in. The Vita demo was much longer and did include everything from the beginning of the game to the end of that dungeon.

I think demo was placed well, no useless chitchat, pic up and slay stuff. Replayed it twice. Will do so again if demo will be out on steam, gotta get used to controls, planing playing with a keyboard + mouse.

Thats because todays "gamers" are impatient little turds that want everything now now now and handed to them. Look at the .hack GU last recode remake, they are upping player atk pow, and increasing exp/weap skill gains and also nerfing some of the optional bosses, all to cater to the ones who want everything handed to them, for no effort. Not that the game was even grindy in its orignal format at all, nor was it too hard. The problem is like I said todays gamers have no patence and demand everything now and handed to em. Other than those 4 changes I am fine with all the other stuff, but really i'd have liked an "orignal mode" so I don't get forced to play a horribly dumbed down version of the game.

It was pretty easy to pick up and i enjoyed my time with it. Couldn't stand FFXIII Vanille voice actress (i think it was her; sounded a lot like her) but otherwise no issues.

No problems, see the Ys Origin demo, the beggining would be too long for a demo.

What does it has to do with Ys? The main thing about the serie is the fast-paced gameplay over the story (The Trails serie is better for that). Also every game in the serie have a Nightmare or Inferno mode for people who wants challenge.

Looks like a matter of opinion. :)

Personally, I would have rather played from the very beginning. I don't think it would have killed them to include first 3-5 hrs of the game introducing noobs ( and returning players ) to the mechanics, story, characters ect.

One of the best things a game can do is make you you wonder,"What is going to happen NEXT??!" Kind of a moot point now, though...

Get a wired Xbox 360 controller.
