Every time I came up on that Octobrain behind the glass I unloaded my gun on him.
And there's a real easy way to kill the Octos that's really fun.
Should have been longer though - more stuff to do. First time - great, second time - need to be on the hardest difficulty.
The whole game was badly designed and tedious, gawd, what about the toy truck level, mostly just boring crap. Could have been fun, it was just tedious.
believe it or not, but "The Hive" could potentially be completed without taking any damage whatsoever (or very little), even on the Insane Difficulty. But to do that, you have to have the right weapons for the right job and know where the enemies spawning spots are at (and part of this is shooting/blowing up all of the Impregnator eggs before they could even hatch.
*forever entertained*
I'd have prefered it if Duke was given some kind of crazy device from the EDF that allowed him to save the chicks in the hive, even the occasional hidden one for an "ego boost" and a bit of a reward *nudgenudge* Instead of having to walk through it with your head low thinking "Yep, sorry girls, I failed you, my bad."
I liked killing the rats with the rat traps, and even the shrunken enemies I thought were very cool.
However, trying to be a giant killer in the storage room(?) where there's nowhere to hide: I really hated that. Eventually though, after I died may times, it became fun.
On the hardest difficulty, killing anything with the toy truck is nearly impossible.
But the Hive would have been better if there were more enemies earlier on, and as already mentioned, the abilty to save the girls. Could have been so much better.
that reminds me of a ported version of "Duke Nukem 3D" I think for the PS2 or PS3, I forgot which, but it allowed you to save the cocooned women instead of killing them
