How to install NWN demonheart?
I have NWN EE and think I've installed the CEP and demonheart modules correctly (into documents - NWN), but everytime I try to play the prelude, it crashes the game after I create a character. IDK what to do and I really want to play it, does anyone know what to do? Thnx ':D

Did you made sure that you really have all the necessary files installed that are on the page to download? And put them into the correct folder? (Hak/Tlk/Music/etc.)

You are correct to put them into the document NWN folder. Beamdog restructured the folder system with the EE version.

You know... I have the modules installed on the original NWN version. Let me try this on the EE version and then report back. Meanwhile you can check if you installed everything and did it correctly.

Thank you for getting back to me so fast :)
I just tried loading c1 and c2 and they seem to work, its just the prelude.
I thought I put everything in the right place, I reinstalled the whole game and mods twice trying to get it right but knowing me i have probably done something wrong ':)

So, just letting you know that it is crashing for me on the EE version too. I have CEP 2.6 installed.

Normally when the modules are missing something the game lets you know what it is and not just crash. This is weird.

Hm. Maybe the EE version has problems with the custom movie?

Aw no aha, I've heard of people running into that problem but I'm inept at dealing with these kind of things. Thnx for doing ur best to help me ':D

I'm a bit effed by this thing not working. Old modules should work with the EE version. That was the whole point to make the EE version.

I have some loot and appearance change mods installed. Maybe they bug out when played with old modules. Just tried Tales of Arterra to test if the newest EE version isn't buggy. The intro behaved abnormal and my character got undressed when that shouldn't be. Then I tried the EE version of the Aielund Saga and everything works fine so far.... I should note that Tales of Arterra was made for old NWN. The Aielund Saga got revisited to make a EE version for it.

Hm. I need to experiement with that a bit.

Hm it sounds like ur right and that the EE changed some things/made them incompatible. Sorry I gave u my stress ':D
Is it possible to run NWN without EE? I'm guessing not right, as its a different game?

You need to get ahold of the original copy from somewhere. I still have my original disks, because it was one of the first games thta I bought myself when I still was a kid.

The EE version is the EE version. But you can try and see if Steam still has a legacy beta version on there. The Legac version must be something with 7xxxxxx, before they switched the game engine to 64x. Maybe downgrading the game version will help.

(right click NWN> properties > betas > select “Beta/Legacy/Whatever version” version. I play on GOG so I don't know wheter Steam has these versions available or not).

Another thing that you can try is setting your graphics on poor or really low and see how far it goes. Worked for some poeple when they had problems with starting old modules or certain level transtition. If it works then save your game and crank up your graphic options to max or whatever you previously had.

OK we finally got it to work. I tried the graphics thing and it didnt work, but i noticed in the settings u can turn off cinematics/videos so i did that, it seemed to crash and say it couldnt run the video file cus it was in the wrong format but then once i clicked past it it let me onto the game! Yay finally! Thnx sm for ur help and hopefully it doesnt break again :D

Damn! So I was right that NWN EE had problems with old module movies. Glad it worked! And I have to remember that.

Anyway if you want to watch the intro movie you can do it outside of the game. Every video player should be able to play off the video file format. If not, download VLC. It's a trustworthy open source software.

"Movies - Enhanced Edition does not support .bik files, which need to be converted to .wbm files (NIT does this automatically). If left as .bik files, the module will still work, but movies will not play."

Apparently this software will help to automatically convert the old movie files into files that the EE version recognises.

Huh... need to try it out. Anyway in case you want to play more old modules in the future I leave this here.
