Spacer Edition - DLC for Base Game or New Install?

I'm confused. I purchased the Spacer edition upgrade, and the main page for the original install of the game says that new DLC for my game has been added to my account. And the DLC content for the game includes the Spacer edition upgrade. But none of the files in the install directory have been updated. An when I start the game, the upgrade does not appear to be active.

There is a new listing in my library for the Spacer Edition, which when installed, includes none of the prior achievements (i.e. it seems to be a completely independent installation to the base game). Is there actually a way to apply this as and update to the base game?

Save games did not carry over either to new Spacer Edition install. This is an instant return for me. I only bought this to support Obsidian. But if a full restart of the game is required for the access to the content to be active, then I have no need for this upgrade. Definitely not as advertised.

Why do I have the Spacer's Choice Upgrade DLC in the library for the original The Outer's World game after purchasing the Spacer's Choice upgrade bundle? I have previously purchased The Outer Worlds: Non-Mandatory Corporate-Sponsored Bundle on January 3, 2023. The upgrade is actually a separate new game in the Steam library and saves will not transfer over.

The upgrade just gives you the Spacer's Choice Edition which is a seperate game. If you want your saves from the original you have to manually copy them from the old save location to the location for the Spacer's Choice Edition.

They are seperate games so both will be in your library. Like Skyrim and Skyrim Special Edition were.

Are you sure about that Willow Rivers? I just copied the entire contents of my original Outer Worlds save games folder to the new folder created with the Spacer Edition and none of the save games are being recognized when I run the Spacer Edition.

Edited so as not to spread misinformation: From another user's post the save games from the base install need to be copied to a <steamUserId> subfolder in the Spacer's Choice save game folder to be recognized. The subfolder wasn't required for the base game so I didn't realize it was necessary for the Spacer's Choice version. I can't test that this works, as I already received a refund for the upgrade.

Seen some posts saying you could. I have no idea how it works. I plan to start fresh myself.

I don't understand it either, since the new edition comes out as DLC in the original if you look at your DLCs section... it's supposed to have to be updated or I don't know whether to install the original again... since I don't know It says that the new DLC was installed when I installed the game (original)

Refund received. Very disappointed with how this rolled out. Again, I would pay for what I consider to be a "cash-grab" to support Obsidian. But not if the upgrade is misrepresented as DLC versus a completely new game that does not allow import of previous save games.
