Supernova and companion death
y tho. That ain't fun. I suppose supernova is for people playing the game for the 3rd time or something as sudden "gotcha" moments just completely wreck the last hour you spent clearing whatever and having to go back and do it all again.

This ♥♥♥♥...ehh...I don't like it. It gives "They Are Billions" vibes where one slip and you get to enjoy the fun of doing everything all over again from the beginning. It's not so bad to "lol do it all again ♥♥♥♥♥♥!" if we're talking Dark Souls/ Bloodborne, etc...but this...meh.

Two primal rocks hitting Parvatti in the face, if anyone was wondering. All companions set to passive, ranged, etc etc.

It's the highest difficulty setting, designed to be punishing. Of course it's not "fun".

My first play through was on super Nova, and I didn't have a companion die once. Level up your leadership skill to make them more survivable, use your healing when they are low on health (I found I healed the companions more than I needed in a play through) and use their abilities to cheese them out of killing blows or move them huge distances.

Some of us find the punishment "fun." It is how I get the most of a game. I enjoy it when a game bites back hard, and I want it to bit back really hard. Siupernova is my first play through.

My first companion died extremely fast. Since then I have been hoarding the rest of the companions. After I get them I teleport to my ship and have them hang out there.

This is "meh" is highly dependent on one's liking of the art direction I believe. This game has very much captivated me. I've done the same area maybe 10 times because I was silly enough to be a low-powered fool with far too many creatures around, and I have greatly enjoyed every seconds of it. Finally passing an area was the most rewarding thing ever.

I fixed the issue guys, I looked online to see *what* the point of supernova was (extra scenes, "true" ending, etc) and there is no point! It's just an unfortunate slog with idiot AI for companions and lots and lots and lots of re-loading.

No thanks.

I did Dead Space/ 2/ 3 at the highest difficulty from the get-go, Doom/ Doom Eternal and tons of other games too because I enjoyed the "authentic" experience. It's always been a blast. I have no qualms about trying to survive MYSELF, but having to micro-manage idiot companions while I'm taking fire? no me gusta - it takes one completely out of the immersion. Plus it's just-plain no fun! (looking at the guy with...800 hours? in Rimworld who loves permadeath/ ironman mode).

"Parvati! We're under fire, don't stand there, get behind cover!" *Parvati slammed in the face by two massive boulders. Now dead* *I shake my head with a smile on my face, wagging my finger at the corpse* "Oh Pavarati, haha you rascal." No.

My leadership thing is soft-capped at 50 and they still die from a couple of primal rocks to the face which arc over me as I dance around and hit them as they stupidly stand there. I'm glad the game has a "well that was dumb, re-distribute all skill points" box-thing.

More power to all of you, I thought it was poorly-designed. I'm also a combat vet though. "realistically" (derp) one should not have to tell anyone to take cover. head-canon-wise it'd make sense if the FIRST engagement with the enemy required me to tell, ONLY Pavarati, to take cover. She's inexperienced as hell. Everyone else though, (well, maybe Felix) nah.

so youre saying youre upset the highest difficulty that tells you its stupidly difficult is... difficult? dont take companions if theyre that big of an issue, or play on a lower difficulty like hard without the companion death.

No it's no worries bruh - I fixed it.

I eliminated the game's terrible companion AI by implementing a workaround where I stopped playing on supernova because it's dumb and offers nothing but a "cheeve."

Gotta get on my level, bruh. Gotta beat all the Souls-Borne, Doom, Dead Space, etc on the hardest before you can step up to the big boys.

AI of companion on Supernova difficulty really suck. Just take the lonly wolf perk and foget about companions forever

Just completed the game on supernova, don't take companions with you, play solo :) Its extremely easy, did all quests without problems :D

I haven't tried supernova, but I can think of one "gotcha" area in particular that'll insta-kill companions. The spot where you find the Mind Control Ray science weapon is reached by jumping over two bottomless pits and during my normal playthrough I heard my companions fall down to their death.

I got a mod so I can sleep and save anywhere and stops companions from being able to die. Maybe its "cheating" but to bad. Much more enjoyable this way for me.

Thats hard to belive considering the bad IA and their suicidal attitude.
