I'm looking for a Metro Ranger style difficulty where you can kill enemies relatively fast and they can do the same to you.
Supernova is more of a management of keeping your companions alive and finding a good combination for your inhaler. Also a lot of running - you can only fast travel to your ship so if you don't like pointless backtracking through places you cleared earlier then I suggest playing on Hard difficulty.
If you learn the way how to tinkering your weapon for lower cost and as others mentioned you're using weapons with different elements, you are good. I played it over twice on hard, it was still a challenge sometimes (I don't want to spoiler), but nothing special. You have to find a way to your playstyle.
On Supernova, except when I'm doing companion quests, I'll do solo with the +25% damage perk. I know I will lose a lots of bonus on specific skills (f.e. engineering can be boosted to 80 at early if you know how to),but since they raised skill level again with second DLC, it won't be a problem, I can max out everything I need.
Companions are just too stupid to have perma death= reload last save.
Got a concussion. Got to travel back to the ship to sleep it off then run all the way back.
The whole needs management was pretty much a non issue as food a drinks were everywhere.
Enemies weren't really any harder.
All supernova did was make me run around a lot. A lot. It just didn't fit into this game.
From the wiki:
You can only select this difficulty option at the start of the game.
If you reduce the difficulty below supernova you cannot re-enable it.
Enemies have more health and deal more damange.
You must eat, drink and sleep to survive.
Companions can die permanently.
Crippled body and limb conditions can only be healed with bed rest.
Weapons and armor work very poorly at zero durability
You can only fast travel to your ship.
You can only sleep inside.
Accepting flaws is mandatory.
You can only manually save inside your ship and autosaves are limited, compared to the other difficulty options.
That one is false, you can still choose, maybe they changed it at release
- entering new areas
- level up
That's true also there are plenty of foods and drinks in the game, BUT don't forget that there are many alcohol in the game, which only make you dehydrated and have negative effects.
I think the game is quite okay and yes, hard is still too easy (Supernova has the same problem), but at least under Supernova they have a chance to shoot me down sometimes.
Still only a few times tho.
