In fact, the overall NPC designs in this game are terrible.
I think the hair is unique and neat personally. and it would have been a lot more boring if it pulled the basic hairstyles the majority of other games provide.
Plus, with the games retrofuture vibe, you'd think there would be at least some old-fashioned hairdos around. Oh well..
Most of the "old guard" in RPG game development have become (forgive the expression) SJWs in their old age. That's partially why we aren't getting many modern CRPG sequels to older games that are worth their price or time investment.
Problem is, they get their money, they get their fame, they get invited to parties, they get showered with attention and they go soft. It's like how Kevin Smith is now in the movie industry. They get so far removed from the people that made them famous in the first place that now they no longer feel like one of them, and decide they no longer have to cater to them.
Tim Cain, Boyarsky, Garriott, Fargo, just go down the list.
What's even worse is that a lot of these folks don't just decide to no longer cater to their original fans due to a superiority complex, but they often times become outright hostile to old fans and will attack them on social media or in interviews given to gaming outlets.
While personally, I like the current hairstyle, disregarding that, will it age the game? I dunno, maybe? It's likely for sure. But, one could look at the flexible retro-futuristic styles The Outer Worlds contains and our current modern hair style today is gonna be nostalgic tomorrow. Ya may not like it, but others will. There's stuff I thought was obnoxious in my time that others find appealing, and vice versa.
"Fruit" Festival? Yeah, alright dude 🖕. Go watch pr0n if you need to get your kicks so badly. We ain't taking that away from ya, so what's the big deal if there are less sexy character designs in media?
I know, simple joys of how you are are forbidden to think and express yourself in the world of cultural oppression. So much hate not conforming to the mediocre world of basing existence on other people's expectations.
I don't think I want you to represent me "ambassador" in your dark and boring word. An imagination compliance department based on an inclusive dystopia. You would probably be horrified by the likes of Heavy Metal movies and comics today; H.R. Geiger, Jean-Michel Nicollet, and Esteban Maroto. They brought us wonderful worlds with beautiful women, and you just want to bring it down to a mediocre mess of uninspired trash. I'm a middle aged man and have enjoyed my prime, and often return to the delightful worlds made by better men.
The only thing I can offer you is my sympathy.
I found and married my dream girl 20 years ago. No need for "p0rn" when the real thing is out there.
