But, do note that the deserter's camp isn't particularly defensible, while edgewater has an entire wall protecting it...
I wouldnt do any spoilers but the game over writes saves. This is one improvement that could be made in an update.
Because the game overwrites save so even if play no deaths ironman, reloading trying to understand a story choice isnt an option.
Out of luck i got the good choice for this quest, and when i tried to reload to see the other option i couldnt, so i looked on Youtube and i found out i made the good choice.
So here is the spoiler.
If wanting to be friendly with both faction, the Botanical Garden, and Spacers Choice, then do all quests for both factions, then choose to power Edgewater, then convince the Edgewater boss to let the smart Botanical lady grow food for the town. Both factions happy then although more choices later in the game but unrelated for the moment.
Choosing to power the Garden is also an option but have to high intimidate to not have a full blown fight with Spacers Choice.
Those are the main options but there are other full blown battles options to.
Can find this all on Youtube, but this is the forums so not bad to see here either.
Why make the challenge any easier by going with a lesser evil when you can provoke everyone?
****************************** (SPOILERS ) ****************************
3) The overarching (surface) theme is "Corporations = bad / Individualism & Personal Freedom = good".
3a) You're entitled to that world view, (and I agree with the latter) but corporations are made up of people. GE doesn't pay taxes not because they're a corporation, they don't pay taxes because they have an army of lawyers poring over the laws, and an army of influence peddlers (AKA lobbyists), who use money and other sweeteners to get congress to write those laws.
(FYI, the local mom n pop store is not going into space. Elon Musk, backed by billions of dollars is.)
3b) From a distance, the Corporations are backed into a corner. Earth is "gone" (And if this takes place in the Fallout Universe, we know why). The system is being held together with duct tape, and oh by the way, nothing is coming our way any time soon, because home is a wasteland.
3bi) Also, apparently everyone is or ends up being sterile. This may be why the Hope (your colony ship) is of such high value.
3bii) Everyone is also clueless. Think Idiocracy. Even in Byzantium (Hunger Games capital city rip-off), while folks are bored, they should be slowly starving as well. (FYI the writers don't understand how starvation works). There's no amount of Tossball games that are going to override a growling stomach.
3c) This means, in the end, the "Corporations" are faced with the following:
- a closed system
- a decaying system
- inability to grow crops (although they're trying, however, using organic matter (bodies) as fertilizer is a BAD idea. It's why composters don't use meat. <-- I WANT TO EMPHASIZE THIS ONE, DO *** NOT *** USE MEAT SCRAPS IN YOUR COMPOST THAT YOU PLAN TO GROW VEGETABLES FOR EATING OR PLANTS FOR POLLINATION)
- inability to reproduce, which would just lead to quicker demise
All of the above leads the "corporation" to desperate times and measures. (Diet toothpaste? Really? Genetic manipulation. Hibernation (punting the problem))
The corporations (leadership) are, repeating myself, in a no-win situation. Anything they do is re-arranging the deck chairs on the (space) Titanic.
not ot mention that the cannery is not canning saltuna... so they have made the "plague" themselve. but its up to the player - destroy a faction or make peace with all
It doesn't take place in the Fallout universe. In Fallout the Earth was "destroyed" in 2077 and in The Outer Worlds the colony ships were sent from Earth in 2285 and the game takes place in 2355 when they find out that there have been no news from Earth in three years, which would mean whatever happened with Earth happened in 2352 or earlier depending how long it takes for news to arrive from Earth.
Also the writers do understand how starvation works. You'll know it if you read the transcripts aboard the Hope. No one in the game was actually starving yet. They were going to run out of food, they hadn't run out yet.
Problem on Endgewater was created by profit-based decision to reduce quality of production. When people start to get sick, mayour decided to push corporate policies further and denied medicine without any attempt to resolve situation. He is responsible of mass murder at least.
While I dislike heavy-handed approach of the game, every piece of in-universe evidence is clearly stating that trusting in corporate good will is insanity.
