(Slight Spoiler) Aren't the science weapons kinda...crappy?
So far I've found the
-Shrink ray
-Madibular Rearranger
-Mind-control gun
-Element hammer

Out of these four, the only one I actually use is the mind-control gun. All the others seem really crappy to me since they have very low damage stats compared to other weapons you can get by the time you're on Monarch. I honestly don't see the appeal in them. Does anyone else feel like the science weapons are pretty crappy, or am I missing something?

They're meant to be whacky and fun, not really good.
I gave them to my companions. It's fun watching a shrunk midget disfigured marauder floating in the air or tiny corporate soldiers charging towards me because I gave my companions the science weapons.

this game is not really a looter shooter.

Use those guns as CC and let your companions do the dps. Going full Pet build is OP in this game. I suggest going difficulty at least to the Hard settings and it's still faceroll. I'm level 21 but have crap ton of ammo and food buffs I rarely use cause my pets rick roll everything. SAM in particular is a bad mofo

The fact that some of them do damage at all is a bit of a mislead, since most of them are all about their debuffs, which are pretty powerful as far as CC goes. Apart from the Prismatic Hammer. And two of three of the new science weapons from the DLC.

The hammer is over powered. It gets its power from your Science skill, if you max out science skill and tinker the weapon to max level then get the perk to increase science damage by 50% it is insanely over powered.. One of my favorite builds is a scientist. Combine it with the rearranger to freeze enemies you can smash your way thru anything with the hammer. Insanely fun.

If you top up your science skills, their tinker cost will be stuck to 200 bits for every level and will be OP. Love the Shrink ray.

If you're not running a build that support science weapons, then yeah, they'll be pretty weak and not really worth using. But if you do, they will become overpowered gamebreaking weapons. And I mean that quite literally.

A simple weapon like the Shrink Ray more or less become an auto-lock sniper rifle that does 1300dps and can melt enemies behind cover..

like the Gloop Gun, watch enemies float in air while your companions have their own turkey shoot.

I second that the Gloop Gun is fun even when not having heavily Science-built. Just Gloop a group of enemies and then change to any weapon with more DPS. I think these science weapons act like something equivalence of "utility spells/skills" just a bit annoying that you have to change weapons instead of using them instantly

I'm just glad the gloop gun fits in my pocket, so that I am not inconvenienced with having to dig through a backpack armor mod to actually sort throigh.

I mean the visuals I imagine while striding around with the various armor buffs... I can imagine the vendor asking "is that... a two handed hammer in your pocket next to the gloop gun, and why are you wearing a defective moon man helmet in an effort to boost your social skills? Have you been drinking? Here just take what I have at a discount, just don't talk to me anymore..."
