The game it self will never flop. they got hundreds of millions for the Exclusivity deal, the only thing that can flop is the sells at the Fortnite Store.
Epic are refusing to release detailed numbers for Metro. They are just saying everything is good. So, that's pretty self explanatory, what that really means.
If they are not successful on the customer side with their shady practices, they will probably go to the devs and lock the Unreal Engine to Epic Store. They have probably generated so much hate by then, that developing a game with that engine only for that platform would be questionable. So all UE devs probably need to switch engines... and all that, because of Epics and the publishers greed.
I don't get why they are not just making Steam games more expensive. If the game is good, I'd even pay more. I bought The Witcher 3 + Season Pass three times and I'm not regretting a single purchase. But all the trash that came out over the last years, it's not a suprise that those games don't sell well, because they are just there to make money...
I want to support the devs and publishers, if they are fair and don't put money as their highest priority. If I'm still interested in this game after a year and it's good, then I'm gonna buy it on Steam probably even for a lower price, because it's already a year old. But I don't need to play it Day 1 and pirate it because of that. That's just dumb.
To be honest, The Outer Worlds looking from trailers the graphical fidelity isn't even on par with The Witcher 3: Wyld Hunt, which was released on 19.05.2015, for a game from 2019 that's a little disappointing.
Yes, ofcourse the style is different, as they stated they aim for borderlandsque vibe. But add to that an additional year of waiting and the game will be looking quite Dated.
Right now we don't know, if it's actually a game worth playing, but lets not dive into that. To me graphical fidelity of TOW isn't that good, yes the graphic resolution of NPCs, objects and terrain might be higher, but they lack something, it looks to me uninspiring.
I might have been interested to play this game, but if I have to wait another year then I call it. There are other games to play, And I do have a list of ageless games to play and I can't have enought of them.
