Some weapons not showing in inventory, only workbench... can't equip
I've only played for 90 minutes or so... maybe I'm missing something obvious. But when I go into a workbench, I see two pistols, the one I have equipped, and a second, slightly better one (has higher DPS and says it's level 2). It shows up in the mod screen and the tinker screen.

But when I just look in my inventory to try and equip it, it's not shown at all.

The same is true for a new shock hammer melee weapon I just picked up.

Any idea why some items aren't showing at all in my inventory to equip, only at the workbenches?

Playing on GamePass, if it matters.

Have you checked your companions equipment?

Hahah ok, never mind. My companion had them. I hadn't looked at her inventory yet, since she's new. I'll leave this here for future dummies like me :)

Can you swap inventory with your companions? I am not seeing a way to.

Swap out what they are using, and it's all yours.

Yes.

When you're deployed (i.e. not in the Unreliable), and in the main <tab> screen, there should be one main tab per companion. Click on that, then the subtabs with gun and armor icons. They appear to have no objection with you switching up their gear (they can each carry only two weapons, one body armor, one helmet).

FWIW, you don't have to worry about them losing durability or needing ammo, but they won't automatically level up their weapons. So if you switch back to an early-game companion that you haven't worked with for a while, check whether you've left them with low-level gear that needs to be replaced or tinkered upwards.

Ahh I see. So as long as they don't have the item equipped, it'll show up in my main inventory. Cool.

I can't believe but despite the long explanation I don't get it.

Perhaps it's related to deployed (i.e. not in the Unreliable) I have zero clues of what it means. But what I see is I can check my character full details and inventory but nothing of companion.

I don't know what's this UI design but it's brilliant, how the hell they could succeed hide companion management is out of my understanding. But I believed UI was supposed to be crystal clear when well done, perhaps not for Obsidian games, sigh.

Well tab (on PC) opens the tabs panel, and tabs to extreme right are those of companions, one for each companion, the text is almost invisible but as other tabs.

It's that simple. And it's so weird because they are at best followers not companions in a party that you manage so they don't have a full character panel.

I can only admit it's my fault, but still think it's total BS UI design. I add this post to highlight it's that basic if someone like me just can't quote the extra tab. :-)
