The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds

Statistiche:
Late game is very boring and stale.
After playing many hours the game starts to turn in to a fetch sim. Hardly no combat at late game and gets stale fast. Good for the first 20h after that its boring. Devs and critics really cant compare this to F,NV. F,NV is way better this is just a glorified walking and talking sim. Loot is crap and not very diverse and the locations are tiny and there is not many it quickly starts to get bland after seeing the same old stuff over and over and over.

It feels like the game's end point is the mid-way point and I was confused when the credits started rolling. I know it's not going to have an endgame like Borderlands or anything with loot pinatas, but I expected it to continue considering there was like 4 planets that was never touched (and can't be touched as far as I am aware) so I was thinking there would be a second act so to speak. Much to my dismay, there was not.

I liked the game and will probably go the opposite way I played the second go around, but it feels like everything was half done. The build up to get the Factions was long-ish, but then the game just gave up and was like "go here, go here, pick up this, fight big baddie that hates you but you've only seen once, done, credits". Faction reputations didn't seem to do anything other than be a number?

Loot was alright I guess. Mod/Tinker system seemed incomplete. Picked up a LMG and never needed another gun for 20 levels, used two weapon mods for it and tinkered it a little and just never found a better gun. The Science Weapons was just...almost non-existent. Two perks that focus on the weapon type and you can get them all in like 3 minutes. I would have loved finding/fighting "mini-bosses" with Science or even Unique Weapons (think I fought only one for The Candy Cane). There was no Unique Weapons on display in places to tempt to steal either.

The jack-of-all-trades-master-of-all system they had made everything pointless as far as levels after a certain point. I got one Tier 3 Perk and just didn't bother leveling after that. Even then, it didn't feel like there was more options available anyways. Most of the Terminals didn't seem to hold anything other than emails and messages, not a lot of "shut down this, do that" options unless it was a quest objective. I had a huge collection of Shunts because I never had to use them.

Some companions were fun to have, but that felt half-baked too. Just pick them up like stray cats and throw them on the ship it felt like for most of them. Almost all comp. perks the same except for the one line (and those unique perks were meh at best). Special Abilities were powerful, but nothing to really adjust them. The dialogue inclusions was nice, and the talking between them was fun. One companion seemed to try and be a little more customizable than the others but nah.

That's kinda it. Just feels like you get into something like loot or companions, then just notice that it feels like the game was rushed and there is a lot of gaping holes that you can see from the vision.

Thank you for subscribing to my blog.
The npcs and voice work are like if they used robots to do it .
There is no emotion in the game when it comes to NPC characters faces or their boxing of the dialog .

Plus the story would have been better if :
Chris Avellone wrote it
Third person
Actually facial expressions

Yes, the combat is worse than Fallout. This is because of crappy encounter design. Most of the combat is mini-battles. A few randomly placed creatures just standing there, and the whole battle lasting a few seconds. Fallout had some of this but also had many more extended encounters, and cover was actually meaningful.

The longest battle I had here was the crazy guy with the flamethrower, which was decent, though still pretty short because nobody bothers with cover or tactics. I can't think of anything else even approaching a real encounter.

Don’t leave it this was obsidian attempt at world building (not open at all) and they stole vats from fallout .
Obsidian of a single person would be like that guy who sold you a car , then when you aren’t looking used spare keys to steal it back .
Besides the open SJW propaganda, censorship , and lame NPC faces and subpar combat system .
I did find this as a good filler until Cyberpunk and TESVI comes out

This was not the same obsidian team on fallout NV too was it? It cant be because the writing in here is so bad and full of woke crap.
Thank you for that comment. I did not think to look at The Outer World from this perspective. Even if I were to disregard the background lore, gameplay expectation, etc. that Fallout: New Vegas had the advantage of starting off with, by itself it was already a very enriching game, especially the story.

I do feel The Outer World has the disadvantage of being new new and being compared with everything else so isn't given any chance to stand on its own. Granted I do feel Interplay simply did a wonderful job establishing and expanding the world of Fallout with just two games. Divinity: Original Sin and D:OS2 are maybe the two most recent CRPGs that I feel are able to stand well on their own but even then some are comparing them to other modern games because of some far-fetch similarities. (i.e. comparing them to Diablo III because of the isometric view)

Messaggio originale di LuckyN13:
The games appearing now adays are just awful, I dont think modern gamers actually know what a good game is anymore after being exposed to complete ♥♥♥♥ for a decade now.
I do feel the older games, especially the various CRPGs of ol (i.e. Baldur's Gate II, Planescape Torment, Arcanum, etc.) are amazing compared to nowadays games. I also feel they were overall very involving and not something many would want to get into and I see no fault in that.

As enjoyable as I found the story for Planescape Torment to be, I can understand others not wanting to essentially read a book through a video game. Personally, do I miss the days of a game with a good story? Sure. Do I miss the days of spending 50+ hours just to beat a game while doing all optional quests? Not exactly.

Even though I find the gameplay of the newer Deus Ex more fun, I often find myself replaying the original maybe once every year or so. Personally I think it is more due nostalgia than because I find it fun. Also because I think it was easier abusing the mechanics compared to the later Deus Ex games.

On another note, I think the lack of achievements in older games also make them easier to play without concern of playing them the "right way".

I wouldn't let myself get hyped with TES6. Even though I am an Elder Scrolls fan, I'm calling it; that game will be trash (if it ever comes out, which I have slight doubts about it).

As for Cyberpunk, I agree. Let's just cross fingers that CDPR doesn't cave in to the SJW crowd and goes on changing stuff.
