Problem installing with game pass onto my D drive
So my C drive is a 100GB solid state drive just for my OS and a few basic apps. My D drive is a separate 1 TB hdd for all other apps, games, data, etc... I got the Xbox game pass for PC just to play The Outer Worlds but when I try to install it, it only gives me the option to install to my C drive.

It might only be temporary it will use the C drive for the installer and temp data and then let ya choose where to install the game.

I actually got a 240GB SSD for OS to replace my old 64GB cause I ran into the same issue with stuff like that

You can install the installer on c drive and when you download a game it gives you the option to pick another drive to install the game on.

You can both install windows store games (which includes the xbox gamepass games) to another drive, and you can also choose to move it later, after install - although the process is not super obvious.

This link has guides to how to do both:

Thanks guys. Good link Ciphernull. Already had any new apps to install to my D drive but it had no effect. At least I know I can move it if I have to. I will give it try and see if Nite69 & Hoboslayer are right. Will post results.

So it's installing now but there was no installer. So no option to actually install it to my D drive. Once I clicked install, it just started downloading....to my C drive.

The link from Ciphernull explains how to move an app after it's installed so I guess I'll have to do that.

I really want to check this game out and at only $1.00 it's just too good a deal. There's also a few other games there I'd like to try, but manually moving them every time is kind of ridicules

Download the Xbox App[www.xbox.com], sign in, click on your profile image and click settings.

The option to change to download/install drive is on the first page.

So after installing the game I moved it to my D: drive but it left almost 25GB on my C drive that I can't figure out where it is. That only leaves me with about 23 GB of space on my C drive when I had about 50 GB before installing and then moving the game.

If anyone can tell me where to look for those files taking up space on my C drive, I'd really appreciate it, so I can delete them and free up that space.

I can't even figure out where the games files are on my D drive (after moving them there), as there is no folder labeled in a way that makes it obvious. More than 12 years on steam and never a bs problem like this.

The platform is probably made for the Xbox 1 which they modify to work on the PC since they both use win 10.

Taken from another site, and working I know this is a old thread, but it still comes up on search when looking for help to fix problem with xbox game pass

"A easy to fix this is to goto system- then storage- and under the storage tab find " change where new content is saved" then select "new apps will save to" and select your preferred storage drive.

Then uninstall your xbox (beta) app, and reinstall it, now when you goto install a new game on the pc game pass it will give you the option to select what drive you want to install it on.

This issue happens because by default windows needs to recognize that your pc has the folder called windows app on that drive and that it has been setup by a windows app installer atleast once, for the xbox (beta) app to recognize the new (useable) install location for your games and apps"

you can also change it back to default after you install the xbox app to your storage drive that you want your games on. when you download a game pass game if selected to install to the other drive, it will indeed now install to that drive

I'm using the game pass pc app and it always gives me a choice of which drive to install to regardless of game, and I have several drives. It's odd if it's not giving you a choice. You're D: drive isn't external, is it? If so, maybe try making sure it's spun up before launching the game pass app?
