How are you going to build your character?
Hey guys! The Outer Worlds is just around the corner. And I was wondering how you all were planning to build your character?

I used a character builder to plan out all my skills and features. I'm planning on creating a super soldier (who is very powerful in combat) with maxed out Science and Engineering skills.

I was going to make a diplomat type character considering that was one of my favorite character builds in New Vegas. But I decided against it because I didn't want to take any short cuts. I felt it would be more fun to experience as much as you can on the first play through.

I watched the Giant Bomb quick look, and there are some really funny "dumb" dialogue options for low int characters. I've never gone low INT in an RPG, but I might try it this time.
It seems like Obsidian put a lot of effort into the dialogue for this game.

Max int and perception, low charm and temper. The last points probably strength. Got to haul all that sweet loot. Judging by the streams I've watched the game looks easy on the highest difficulty so I'll probably opt for dialogue and lockpicking skills before focusing more into weapons.

Im going to try for an ironman on super nova difficulty play through from the start as seriously as i can is what i am excited about. Will search every nook and cranny and equip the best possible before going ahead and take my time and things like that.

Anything can change once I get into the game and check the options. But I have two playthroughs in mind currently.

1. An extremely strong female engineer who uses blunt weapons. (probably 2 handed) She'll have extremely poor people skills but great with dealing with Automechanical types.

2. A charming dextrous male rogue with great people skills and fights with one handed blades and pistols. Your basic han solo/mal reynolds type, just with more of a blade focus.

If I opt for a third playthrough it will either be a low int run or have more of a ranged focus.

That sounds awesome. I'm sure there will be lots of hilarious dialogue in your play through.

You and I have a similar vision in mind. I'm going to see how powerful I can make my character.
I'm gonna focus on Personality and mind attributes and go for a speech focused talker, and start it on the hardest difficulty, playing as someone who sucks at combat and will use every option before resorting to it, and even then get my companions to risk their lives before I will

In a game that's on Steam.

That sounds like fun. I was torn between a build just like that or a super soldier. But I decided to find out just how tough I can make my character. I'll probably use your build during my second play through.
I haven't looked at any preview material regarding to character building, but I'll probably go with my usual favorite character type; high speech, int, and charisma, with a focus on hacking/engineering and explosives. No companions (at least on the first run), No melee or unarmed of any kind (making ammo conservation more important.) I love mines/traps/deployable turrets of any sort, so I'm hoping we get a wide variety of proximity/timed/defensive devices to play around with. My favorite battles are the ones where I can carefully seed the area with mines/turrets after observing patrol paths/behavior, then sit somewhere and listen and watch with glee at the explosions and the shrieks of pain and terror.

i watched 2 streamers play it and so far, not a lot of variety allowed, especially the first area. its completely binary choice, i was hoping for more new vegas like options
I might create a filthy liar who is against the corporations.
maxing out ranged and dialogue

Based off the character builder I saw, you have some really fun options to try.
