What are the general issues with the game today?

I've been seeing mixed reviews about the game and I've been wanting to play PUBG since its early years but never got the chance to until now. But since there are mixed opinions, I don't know which issue is a general problem for the game. I just wanna know before I install the game.

P.S: I live in Asia so I'd do just fine with Asian servers/players, its a Tuesday here to get steam rolled.

if you live in asia, you can choose which map. i can't do that in my region so that's a big plus for you

there are no general problems because the game runs well.
a lot of the complaints come from poor players who hope, wish, and pretend everyone who killed them was cheating because they're mad because they lost. these people don't want to get better; they want free kills and wins handed to them and it just doesn't work that way. as long as you're not one of these people, you will be fine playing PUBG

another complaint is the gacha system, but that's an optional thing people don't have to do

Back in Junior High I played PUBG Mobile back in 2018-2020. So I got some idea about how the game works, only this time I'm playing with a mouse and keyboard.

I don't really plan to play on duo tho, I'd likely play more solo matches instead. I tend to play without friends.

General issues :
1. Bloated with cheaters. 30% of playerbase do use internal hacks or other things restricted by TOS which give big unfair advantage.
2. Performance. The game didnt changed much,but they stuffed it with useless mechanics,unoptimised maps, and they have put 3 anti-cheats which do run entire PC scans every 10 minutes so it loads up even 9800x3D@6.7 to 100%. Those anti-cheats do absolutely nothing in terms of protection but they tank FPS significantly.
Game itself are very demanding to CPU and RAM speeds, if those things are not rock solid stable in your PC and Windows is not Tweaked - you will run into stutters and crashes.
More of the personal issue but you have to account that.
3. Matchmaking. The game is unplayable solo (unless you play solo mode) and even solo mode unable to match you with same skill level players. If you want to play squads or duo - just dont... Teamkills,toxicity,spread landing,throwing the game and team mates, skill difference is massive and you will be matched against premades with full coms.
4. No future. I would say that the game are moving towards Asia market forgetting about EU\US\CIS regions, but it seems like you ok with that. Their marketing model,updates and overall treatment of the game are not promising. Instead of improving experience for regular players - they push esports and dont give a thing about complaints.

Makes me think that maybe PUBG Mobile is better. I used to play it, has better anti-cheat but I wish I could play on PC if this game ever does get the care it deserves from the devs.

Don't believe liars and trolls who try to tell you there are no cheaters. Just look at the weekly ban reports, you will see hundreds of thousands of players are banned weekly for cheating.

Well that does bring to question the complaints about cheaters... If there are so many, why are there cheaters getting banned every week?
That aside, I haven't seen anyone say that there are no cheaters. As much as a dream that is, there's gonna be cheaters in every game.

The cheaters create a new account and keeps playing, there are also a lot of old high level accounts with obvious cheats that doesn't get banned.
That being said, I still think its a good game, yes it is not very optimised, yes there will be some very questionable hit registration, movements and such and yes there is cheaters(10-50%?) in every match on Asian servers.

But not too many toxic players on Asian servers, most are ok/nice(Eu daytime is horrible), and there are some really good players trying to play as a team.
This game with a working anti-cheat system, some better mechanics, stable and fast servers would be awesome.
