Why Can't You Pick Maps?
I like 3 maps in the game Erangel, Miramar and Karakin. I have 1 hour a night to play. Tonight I got Paramo but I said ♥♥♥♥ it ill play. The next map I get..... Paramo so I leave wait 5 minutes search again Paramo.... back out again wait 5 minutes get Paramo.... back out wait 5 minutes get Sanhok... back out wait another 5 minutes finally get Erangel. I spent more time waiting then playing.

Why do the dev's think not being able to pick maps is a good feature? I'd like to play the maps I like for the limited time I have. It's getting to the point I'd rather play another game because my hour of game time will be spent gaming not waiting. It's not that the other maps are ♥♥♥♥ or even bad I don't mind playing them a scattered time but being forced is absolutely mental.

I have read elsewhere that it used to be a feature before I bought the game. Why did they remove it? Anyway what's the general consensus with you all? Am I alone in this or do many people think the same? Thanks All The Best.

In 2018, we got the selection because we had enough players to support it.

We lost almost 1 million avg players since than and now they can't support it anymore.
They also told us that in 2018 too so it's not like we didn't know whats gonna happen in the future.

As I did see, you play in NA and you guys have even fewer players than we in EU.
They can't give the map selection back due to the lack of players.

They've tried all kinds of solutions. No matter what, people complain.

There was once only Erangel. Then they added Miramar. At the time, you could select your map. A portion of players didn't like Miramar. So, they would never play it. This led to high queue times for Miramar. Which caused complaints from people that liked Miramar.

Sometime after adding Sanhok (or was it Vikendi? well, anyway...) queue times went way up for all maps. Which caused people to complain.

So, they tried a few options. Such as seasonal map rotation. This caused people to complain when their favorite map was off rotation.

I believe they briefly brought back map selection at one point. Or maybe they just said they would? I can't quite remember.

They finally settled on random for most regions. No surprise, people complain about that, too.

Do a forum search. Someone complains about map selection every few days.

Personally, I like the variety. Spice of life, and whatnot.

Dude its a battleroyale imagine like theres no map and the map is randomly generated each and every time kind of like when you do a fresh start on a rust server, ¿what would you do then? if you play this game you play it for the adrenaline and the satisfaction of adapting to any situation not because of the map i hate miramar and with the lower amount of players i now prefer to play smaller maps like karakin or paramo but somedays i have to suck trough 4 to 7 miramars in a roll one after the other and i play anyways cause the map is not that important you shoot and get shot no matter the map its the same drill.
the game experience doesnt change that much just based on the map imagine if you were playing warzone with just 1 map what then?

More choises, happier people. Give back map selection. I dont care if there are 80% bots, bots are fun for new players. Elite players can play ranked

We didn't have the selection so early in 2018. We had the same problem at that time than today.

No selection and many did leave Miramar over and over again so we got Miramar much more often than Erangle. They did release Sanhok and we got the map selection too.

It wasn't the plan of PUBGcorp to use any map selection but they did listen because we had enough players for that at that time.

Not sure what you are trying to say. Or the point you are trying to make.

They added map selection early in 2018. In response to people that disliked Miramar. Which was only available for 4 months before map selection was implemented.

https://steamcommunity.com/games/578080/announcements/detail/3229520292645744467

It took only 3 months for them to remove map selection. Which was what I was saying. They added Miramar, and then map selection.

Like I said, it's gone back and forth.

https://steamcommunity.com/games/578080/announcements/detail/3077529424436480685

They took away map selection because they couldn't make it work. Specifically, the queue times were too long. Which led to complaints. Which is why they removed it.

"...we’ve decided that we can’t support individual map selection for more than two maps. This is because map selection creates an essentially exponential increase in the number of total separate queues when combined with other queue options like party size and perspective. That means the matchmaking pool gets split into many small sections, making it nearly impossible to put together a match in at least some of those queues." --PUBG Dev Team (2018)

You can keep saying it's because NA doesn't have enough players. That may even be the official position of PUBG. But it's obvious they've been unable to figure out how to allow map selection without excessive matchmaking queue times. As this was true when PUBG had many more players.

Which is, again, what I was saying. They can't win when it comes to this issue. People complain no matter what they choose.

I remember it but it doesn't make sense.

Maybe for Solo in EU or regions like NA but we never did struggle here for many years about that in Duo and Squad.

In Solo, many maps were dead that is correct. Only 2 of 5 did work.

They also did test Mini and Battle Royal just to remove it later again for the real map selection.

As I said, It wasn't a big problem in EU for years until 2020.

But with that being said, how can people still believe they could support anything like that today? Maybe you see it differently from them.
