Yes, "Free to play", is a good option to gain more player but it's bad about the point of cheater.
Shooter are to cheap because money is the only real weapon against the cheater today.
But most other BR titel are free to play too so no chance for other payed titel anymore...
Pretty bad but if it comes to the point of money, people don't even think about cheater anymore.
I heard about that PUBGcorp already speak about such things, which is also logic becaus at some point they have to all possible things. But it could be just rumors who knows.
F2P games are the worst.
I have a lifetime of playing various f2p games (mostly MOBAs) and it brings only the scumiest-trashy players possible.
This game is...as it is already. Going f2p will destroy whatever "community" still has.
Did you not read my words about other BR's?
Litarally every other is already free to play and you don't feel any difference.
Apex, Fornite, CSGO Dangerzone, CoD Warzone, Ring of Elysium and so on.
PUBG is the last payed game and it's hard to survive that.
People don't like to pay anymore. CoD Blackout failed so hard and it wasn't even a bad BR.
They learned from it and Warzone as a free to play had a huge success.
I'm also not a fan of free to play games but it's also not right to ignore too.
This guy is entitled to his own view. Just because you said it, doesn't mean its right.
Making this game free to play would destroy what little cred it has left. It would just then become another trashy Apex.
No i'm not and you also see what you wanna see. I even accepted and saw his points too
I just named how many other BR's are already free to play.
It wasn't even my own opinion because I already wrote how bad it would be related to cheater but to ignore what people do, not to want to spend money, and what the reality is in other games is just wrong. If PUBG gonna lose more player free to play is one option for sure.
So tell me, where is my issue here?
https://steamcharts.com/app/578080
You have almost 450 k peak, in the past 24h. It is also the peak average of the month.
Why do we need more players ? (where is exactly the problem, better said)
So you can get 1 s less queue-time ? Is this what is about ?
And for what price ? To get, 3 to 5 times (more) the amount of cheaters, and to overload the servers (bad hit registration and high ping players not enough ?) ; you want more ?
It doesn't matter if the rest are f2p - they had to start that way, otherwise they wouldn't have got a fraction of their players. They had to beat the "competition" - which in this case is pubg.
Let me put it this way : there are a lot of "cola" brands outside of coca-cola and pepsi. And you don't see Coca-Cola or Pepsi lowering their prices, "because the other brands are selling at half the price" so they should to as well.
We are talking about almost half a MILLION players ! How the F is the game dying ?
Just because the numbers dropped with time ? It happens with every game.
I guess WoW is dead too, by this logic, since they are in decline from 2009. And World of Tanks. And League of Legends too.
This reminds me of those people who were crying CS GO is dead, back then, with around 500 k average peak...
Let me translate the hidden message of the OP, just to point out the selfishness and arrogance he is displaying :
" So I have these 2 close friends which I want to play PUBG with ; but they are unwilling to pay real money for a video game (or for this one in particular). I am also unwilling to gift the game to my close friends (even though they are close, and I like/ want to play PUBG with them) - so please PUBG devs, make the game free to play, so we should not be required to pay, in order to play your game. "
And then he brings some "accusations" on how the game is dying and they should heed to his "council".
So in short : change the game for the 3 of us, because why not.
If he is not lying and he is from Finland ; in 3 days the winter sale on steam starts, and pubg will be 10 $ (euro). 10 euro is NOTHING in Finland, I know the prices there.
So this is nothing except cheapness, really, from his part. Unwilling to spend 10 euro (20, for 2 copies to gift for his 2 friends), but instead has the audacity to come and beg for the free-to-play monetization.
I can show you some other stats and to say PUBG didn't lost player is just absurd.
As much as I would say something else, I can't
It doesn't mean the game is dying because I don't use any of those, "low arguments", of others and I also sayed, "if".
On the picture below you can see how many player each region playing PUBG
based on the stats from spring 2020.
https://gyazo.com/bda702be97672e3fdaf3f250bb460845
80% of all player are coming from just two regions. Kakao and AS.
EU just has 2% of it and we are super far away from healthy player stats.
Other regions are worse.
But I just sayed it's one option in the future if we hit the critical point because the other options is worse. So even if we would get much more cheater, I don't think that, more maybe but not 3 times, they have to do that or the game completely died in most regions except maybe 2.
It would be dump to not do it, so I never sayed they should do it now or anything.
But for notice:
As you can see on the picture, most region already passed the critical point only EU has still better stats about it. So what I wrote is not so unrealstic as you might think.
Show me where I said PUBG haven't lost players.
I pointed out very clear that every game in existence has lost players with time. It's not necessarily because of the content (or lack of it) ; people simply get bored, that's a fact.
It seems to me you are more concerned with how much revenue pubg brings/ gets, than how many players are playing the game. Because the numbers are far from critical.
Look at the charts of Steam and you can see what did happen no matter about the reason for it.
PUBG as a game isn't death some regions already are or close to it.
Tell me, how is it any relevant to see 300k online if I can't play PUBG in my region?
Only 3 regions of minimun 8 are good today, others not.
There are a reasons why we have bots and not only because of new player.
I don't know why you keep ignore good facts and I again, I said maybe and in the future.
It's just realistic and nothing else.
If the situation gets that critical, sure, some drastic measures will be needed. But we are far from it.
IF that screenshot of yours is true, 2% of the EU-side is around 6.7 k average. (I didn't even calculate it to the point, 2.66%).
6.7 k average are far more than a lot of games, even new ones, have. And if we divide that number to say, 90 people per match queued (as rarely they get 100), you have around 75 matches going, at the same time.
That picture shows 100k less than what it is today (or this month), so there are even more than that. :)
EDIT : 2.66% is actually almost 9k players. That's 95 matches at the same time, with 95 players.
And with the current (today) peak from steam, 2.66% would be 11.7 k.
Aside from these top games on Steam (like CS GO, Dota, etc these big games), I for one don't know that many games that have such a player count. And that would be world-wide, not just EU.
But that is why I wrote, "if". We don't know how long it will be and maybe they find a different way.
We will see.
That is, by the way, why they will not region-lock in this game.
Because if there are few players in your region, you are pushed into the next.
We have a region lock but it doesn't work as people would expect.
But yeah you are right, they struggle to find a ping lock because it's ain't easy
without to block people who needs to play with high ping.
because of his poor skills. Like CS, there are still a lot of enthusiasm, and this is more interesting than CS.
