No aim-punch+garbage hit detection+ laggy players=bs.
Oddly this game lacks localized dammage. Developers might take inspiration from the old-classic Operation Flashpoint (very first title in the ArmA series) and enable, at least, two types of localized damages that will be triggered once a specificed threshold is passed. Result would be that, if avatar is hit in the arms, there will be heavy aim shaking/swaying; if avatar is hit in the legs, result will be forced proning. The only way to remove such handicaps would be using boosters and/or medical items until the damage value turns lower than the aforementioned threshold.
If someone is able to hit the head while you just aim for the torso, he has in fact better aim and shouldn't be punished for it.
There will be always scenarios where the other guy chooses the better weapon and win.
Do you think it makes sense to add the old aim-punch back because you would benefit in just a few situations while you wouldn't in most others?
If they change it back, you could have the same scenario but this time your opponent has a SLR with the most aim-punch of all weapons. You have to push him and straight before you shot at him you get one shot and you cannot hit him even once due to the aim-punch.
They did reduce the aim-punch back in 2019 because many people reported a bad experience.

It comes down to what you want to be rewarded more in a shooter
Tactics, or aim
Without aimpunch, aim means more as you can be utilizing cover to give the smallest exposure, catch an enemy in the open, land every shot and do everything right, but lose because your opponents aim/equipment was slightly better
With aimpunch, tactics and positioning are more important as aimpunch prevents simply “outshooting” your way out of a scenario you SHOULD lose
Considering PUBG is the more realistic of the major BR’s
Based out of ARMA
Id rather tactics mattered more, as I got games like Apex where i can just use aim to win
