Micro freezes in PUBG & Fortnite - (GTX 1080 - i7-6700k)

I've been having an issue for a long time now and have done everything I can think of to try and fix it.

But basically, I'm having very frequent micro freezes, sometimes lasting nearly a whole second while playing the game. This also happens in Fortnite, but no other games as far as I know. I can run many other games in max settings and even 4K no problem, and benchmarks/temps/usage of CPU and GPU all look normal and responsive.

I can't pinpoint exactly when this problem started, but I've even tried rolling back to some early Nvidia drivers that used to work and still have the same problem. I tired updating the BIOS to the newest version (risky move I know, but it is becoming so frustrating at this point). Even done a fresh reinstall of the OS (Windows 10).

I should also note that in-game settings appear to make no difference to the freezes. Nor does having the games installed to the SSD or HDD.

If anyone has any ideas or is experiencing something similar, please let me know! Even knowing if someone else out there is having issues with these games with similar PC specs to mine would be somewhat of a relief! Thank you (:

I also have this problem, i thought it was my second monitor, but i guess i was wrong. It makes me sad when i see posts like these, and the only answers are something like "get better rig, your specs are bad, thats why you cant play the game".

I have the issue even with all in-game setting set to very low. I mainly play at 2160 x 1440 - I have a 4K monitor @ 60hz. Hope that helps!

Sorry for the late reply i had to go out, I was very surprised to hear you have the same micro stutter even at very low settings ! basically your card kills my card on performance and yet i can play the game absolutely fine

I just finished watching the video, however it wasn't what I'm looking for. It's just telling me how to use hardware monitoring overlays in games. Also I must emphasise that the problem I'm having is more micro freezing than stuttering. Meaning the screen will lock-up for a short moment (while the audio continues playing as normal). But I appreciate your help non the less!

Bit of a long shot, but check if you have CPU parking. Go to "Edit Power Plan" then "Change Advanced Power Settings". Under "Processor Power Management" check what is the "Minimum Processor State", default is probably 5%. Try changing it to 100% and see if it helps. Might be something wrong with how PUBG requests resources from Windows and W10 starts thinking that the CPU is idling and cuts the power. I've had my CPU running at 100% when PUBG running with that setting at default 5%

Hmm I must've tried CPU parking before, Minimum says 100%, Maximum says 85% - weird!

Well, there is no need to have maximum lower than 100% raise that one as well
