A moment ago I was going after a player who did not know of me and I was going up the stairs listening his footseps. They sounded like they came from the floor above while infact this playerwas right next to me coming down the stairs.
Somehow he managed to move just so I missed him coming down visually but I was still hearing him above me for some reason.
Myself i have a really hard time to locate noises aswell. When i get shot i usually locate the direction by the impact of the bullets rather than the sound itself. But i'm fairly new so it might be my lack of skill and technique aswell.
I use Corsair's H2100 Headphones. I've tried normalising/equilising sounds; you get better footsteps, it's true, but you're going to have a hard time finding the source of a pew and rain will mess you up. I've done some stuffing around with the Dolby settings in the software, but I suspect they make things worse. I already play with high latency; and I certainly don't need another disadvantage.
