On-screen indicator for direction of attack
I was thinking the other day that the game should have an indicator for what direction you're being shot at, like that side of the screen glows a certain color briefly right after you're hit. I can't think of a reason why it shouldn't have this aside from it not being realistic, but I think I would prefer the extra functionality. What is everyone's thoughts?

How about no. Bullet point of impact + sound cues are enough.

Silencers would be worthless and awareness would be brought to a far too small amount you actually need. The game is built upon using audio and small visual clues to find enemies before they find you. I'm 100% against casualizing the game to this extent.

What visual cues? Bullet impact isn't useful because you're down in 1-3 seconds. Audio cues I understand and that makes sense with the silencers, hadn't accounted for them.

Spidey senses is a great idea. I'd recommend The Amazing Spiderman 2 as the first one was sub-par.

Muzzle flash and bullet impacts on your body or your cover are the obvious ones, but audio is the most important part on finding an attacker (or potential attacker shooting at someone else)

This would lower the skill ceiling a lot

No thanks. Between general map/vantage point knowledge, muzzle flash, bullet crack and fire sound, pinpoint time is already low.

Learning to decipher these cues is a skill I'd rather the game keep as a key component.

Also, suppressors would be useless.

If you are dead in 1-3 seconds then a directional indicator wouldn't matter. In situations where they do matter, you can generally tell based on bullet holes or impacts around you.

So you've never been killed without knowing where it came from be sound and impact alone?

When, in real life you are shot, you can triangulate the position of the shooter in a general sense based on the angle and direction of the wound. Same should be plausible here. Yes it would change mechanics and the game would change around it. But why is it considered more casual just because it gives you tools that you would have in real life anyway?

"Silencers would be worthless"
This is a solid point.

How? How is it considered having skill when your out in a field and are being shot at and cant tell which direction before being killed? What could you have done differently? I cant tell you how often ill kill someone who hides behind cover but are still visible to me because they dont know where i am and im able to finish them. I am not the best shot at range. Thats like 10 shots and the guys still cant figure it out if im at enough of a distance. so like 20 seconds and 10 bullets later i finally kill him at 1 km. He never had any idea where i was, just 20 seconds of panic and pain. Man good thing he didnt have that skill your talking about or he could have just known which direction i was firing from and been able to defend himself right?

I don't want an indicator during the game, but it might be nice to see the direction you got killed from.

That would be fine.

Is 1-3 seconds not enough time to find cover if you know which direction your attacker is firing from? 3 seconds is a long time in a firefight.

The skill element there is your better posistioning.

So its based on luck, because positioning late game is based on the circle, which is randomized... so your skill ceiling is luck based? You'll have to be more specific with how positioning is your skill here and how you can overcome all the obstacles that would get in the way of that. Circles. Red areas. Other players. lack of cover on highground. etc, etc. Sometimes you cant get highground and sometimesyour stuck without much cover. In those situations you can be picked of rather easily from distance and never know where its coming from. Even if the firefight takes 20 seconds you could never have figured out anything but a general direction if they have the right attachment and have placed themselves far enough away or hidden well enough.
