The only reason (what I've read) why the game doesn't run on Linux systems is BattlEye.
Here's protondb database, which "gather reports from other gamers as they test games with Proton on Linux and provide aggregate scores of how well games perform."
https://www.protondb.com/app/578080 (PUBG reports)
So far 974k players who has Linux system (that's how I understood the number on front page) since the release of Proton (5 months ago).
TheSparrow (15.06.2017):
There is no Linux version planned for the time being.
I am really hoping they do this because i am not a fan of windows and linux is much more secure and i feel and hope they really rethink there process, and you are right, it wont run because of battleeye, i got it to download on my linux OS, but was unable to open, it loads BattleEye, and then it just closes
They might not even consider it seeing as 0.82% of steam users use a linux OS. There are more OSX users than linux.

Am not saying they shouldn't but based on the numbers there is no incentive to do so
never knew this existed, thank you for showing me this
Right now the AC software don't work with Linux so you're out of luck.. I also use many Linux distros and unfortunately there is a huge lack of support when it comes to gaming from both game developers and Linux itself ..
But it do seem to be improving so you never know :)
Try to turn off every feature / app / program for windows do help but is a pain in the rump... So much bloatware and garbage runs in the background...
ikr? thats why i want to switch and after disabling the settings they just randomly turn on again and apps reinstall themselves, so i just kind of gave up on the whole thing, ill wait until linux is ported to pubg and i will install my linux distro again, till then ill wait and use windows 10 i guess
I hear ya man..
Windows is great only because of the gaming side of it.. It do have the drivers / codecs and all those goodies but unfortunately is is very prone to virus ridden programs / malware, takes huge resources from useless tasks and pushes useless updates that there is no need of..
Updates drivers with out of date ones and the list goes on and on.. I would also like to see more support from Game / software developers support Linux as well but with such a small user base it seems like I will never get to see it in my lifetime lol..
I have a htpc setup that has a bunch of old junk drives (hdd's) that has a W3690 and 12 gigs of ram with Linux running on it .. Also used as a wired connection to other pc's and runs as stable and is as fast as my 8700k system.. Transfers files much quicker and never crashes and acts as a great firewall as well..
As for gaming brother might as well stick to windows as it will be a long time before we see any real headway.. Good luck man :)
