Is ping fake?

I just activated the new network options to see my ping and it shows 7-10ms in most matches, it cannot be true, I ping 10ms to my friend who lives across the street (we are both on fiber using ethernet), I can't ping 7 in a frankfurt server from central Italy...
I heard they are using Multiplay servers, which is a very nice service (I've bought some servers from them many times before) and they don't have servers in Milan anymore.
I wonder if they fake the numbers to make the game look better.

I'm in Aus and always had ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ping, got upgaded to 2mbs internet now and fastest ive ever had in a online game was 20ms (on a local Aus server). Now i have 7ms on PUBG i dont think its possible

Alright, used Wireshark.

PUBG says I get from 7ms to 21ms. I can't ping the actual game server, as it doesn't respond to icmp pings to prevent dos attacks and all game communication is UDP so I can't measure response times but I can ping the server used for voice chat (same location?) and I get 15ms average.

What region are you playing in, I have not been able to get a game in OC in any mode for over 2 months now.

Although a friend in the gold coast on Dodo gets 25 ms ping to SEA whereas I get 200 …

seems to me that these ping numbers are about as accurate as the estimate wait time numbers ….

Never seen that site before, but it says my ping is around 26-28, which honestly sounds a little more realistic.
I still believe they are faking ping numbers by simply displaying an n-30 to look good.
