it depends what you like more. Do you like to hit hard and slow or fast and weak (dont get me wrong sks have great power but its weaker than kar98) . But man those headshots with kar98 feel soooo good. But i like to go with sks full attached (with silencer ).

Kar98 is almost always better, but if you only find an SKS, then it's a good alternative.

I personally prefer the SKS because it has more customization and you don't get punished for every shot you miss.

they're 2 completely different guns, the kar98 is great if you have a very good shot at the head, but if you miss, you need to rechamber the next shot, the sks will probably not kill anyone with a headshot unless they do not have a helmet or they have some damage already, but if you get a body shot, another 2 can be quickly followed up with it.
also, if you have a angled grip, put that on the sks, it will reduce the horiziontal recoil by 20%~
the sks has more recoil then the mini14, but the mini 14 is basically a higher damage gun then the m16a4, its really not that special but ill take it over the mini14 any day of the week.

I really liked the kar before 1.0 . But since then i really prefer the sks. 2 hit kills any helmet and its doing 79 damage to a lvl 2 helmet so it's doing more damage than a first aid kit restores. Players tend to be less careful when being shot at with a sks. You can afford to miss a shot. Accurate to 400 - 500 meters

Kar from greater distance, mini 14 elsewise. SKS has so much kickback that the extra damage is rather pointless, mini 14 has less kickback with a bigger mag and is great for spamming up close as well.

In terns of shooting over a large distance though the Kar bullet drop makes it annoying especially coupled with the rate of fire, but then it's the best you can get unless you get supply drops.

if u can get a sks fully decked out its a great sniper if not kar al day
