Teammates can hear footsteps spectating but I can't hear them

Why is this. I had my friend call out people I didn't even hear when I was the last one alive. They clearly heard the steps but I went back over the footage and I didn't hear a damn thing

or adjust your headset, PUBG doesnt support 7.1 DTX, so turn that ♥♥♥♥ off, it would help a lot

well in that case you have a terrible headset. get a better one or check your sound settings

same problem with hyper x cloud 1 m8 has the same headset with the same mainboard

I have a Steel series Arctis 7... pretty sure its not a 150$ headset causing the problem

well depends on the settings the user configured.. even with 10000$ studio equipment you could set everything to mono only and it would suck

i actually get a better pinpoint on the sound with 7.1 sourround but that said i dont hear the steps at range only fairly close so i usually play with just stero

make sure ur volume is up is all i can suggest really

the pubg replay is effectively a recording from your viewpoint of what happened in the game, so for example network loss which hides footsteps will also occur in the replay

There must be something more to this than just a headset problem. I had this issue just now playing solo. I was caught by surprise by someone from behind, I assumed he must have been crouch walking since I couldn't hear anything, but upon watching the replay I was surprised to see he was sprinting and jumping. Also, viewing from my perspective in the replay, I could hear him really well, but there's no sound of footsteps in my shadowplay recording.

Since the last patch some footsteps are not being played. SOME, not all. Several streamers that I watch also have noticed this. It is the same with the new HRTF audio option turned on or off.

My audio is setup correctly and I use ATH-M50X headphones on stereo only, so it is nothing to do with volume levels, equalisation, gaming headsets, surround etc.
