PUBG Locked at 40FPS?!
The ghost of FPS is haunting me!

After putting together a brand new build, PUBG seems to be stuck at 40FPS. It's not a performance thing. The PC has an i7 8700k, 32GB DDR4 and a GTX1080Ti.

No matter what settings i try, from Low to Ultra, it's always 40PFS in both the lobby and in game.

-I'm running the game on an 144Hz monitor.

What i've tried:

In Game:
- Vsync off/on
- Various resolutions
- Various window modes
- Flipping all graphics settings

Nvidia control panel settings:
- Various refresh rate options
- Various Vsync options
- Reinstalling drivers (Running 397.93 now)

Other:
- Setting the refresh rate of my monitor back to 60Hz
- Trying a different monitor
- Pondering the issue while taking a dump
- Google, Google, Google and YouTube

Besides the framerate thing i see distorted edges and shadow effects in the game. It runs much smoother on my laptop running a GTX1060 6GB and the visuals are better too.

Is there some bug or incompatibility with the 1080(ti) cards that break the game?

Other games run like a dream...

hmm, maybe try reinstalling the game, set your display to fullscreen and make sure you have all power saving features off in nvidia control panel

Thanks, that means it's a software thing. That helps me look further into the issue.

It seems related to Steam. Fallout 4 is also capped to 40FPS now.
- Reinstalled steam and rebooted to no avail.
- Disabled the Windows game bar b*llshit
- Set power mode from "balanced" to "performance"

Still 40FPS in Steam games..

Solved!

- Uninstalled the video card drivers in device manager.
- Rebooted and let windows reintall the default Windows driver.
- Downloaded and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers.

No clue what caused the problem in the first place, but everything seems to be working OK for now..
