PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS
This Just In!!! Video Games Lose Players Over Time!!
For anyone pointing out that pubg's player base declining in the past 3 months is proof of a dead or dying game. Remember Titanfall? How about Destiny 2? That is what a dying game looks like.

I am starting to think most of these comments are coming from children. Why? Because a long time ago a certain game was released. A game that broke all the records and became an overnight phenomenon. This game was revolutionary to its genre. Spawned countless imitators, some of which became just as popular causing speculation that it was dying.

Sound Familiar?

That was 14 years ago. That game was World of Warcraft. A game that is still very much alive today with a healthy number of subscriptions all the while managing to draw in new players to this day. Now, I am not so optimistic as to say PUBG will be alive in a decade but it isn't going anywhere soon.

To be honest, since loosing all the casual trend chasers, the meta has become more competitive. The majority of players are now very competent, pure skill alone is no longer enough to consistanly win. I prefer the state the game is in now more than ever despite the multitude of flaws that are still present.

Rant over. Someone needed to say it. Now if you please let us to enjoy our perpetually broken game in peace I won't say anything when you all inevitably hop on the next bandwagon.

A little addendum: people who think it's dead because of a population dip should take a peek at that little date thingy in their phone or the one hanging off the wall in the nearest retirement home... You know, the calendar? There's a thing called "summer" going on, right now. You should look into it instead of cooking up conspiracy theories in your basement. Get a tan.

The game conveniently peaked in december. Makes me wonder how much of that 3 million were straight up christmas noobs. Even though it is summer I'm doubtful the game will ever see numbers like that again, but it doesn't need to. Bluehole made enough damn money
Well them sueing the people they license their engine from might just finally kill this game.
I don't agree with the lawsuit one bit, I think it sets a bad precedent for the industry. That being said this IS capitalism and the ARE a business and lawsuits are just a part of both.

The lawsuit as it is brought now to a korean court, is not there for winning , it is to delay fortnite in korea , as it is blueholes main market now after the chinese market got licensed by tensen . Buisness 101 . They are very aware of it that it will not succed

This guy knows what's up.
bug have a big difference between second and therd most playd games on steam you can check stats secod is dota therd is cs go and theuy have around 500k players and pubg have 15000k players so 3 more times than cs go and dota ...
Things to consider

Well both destiny and and tital fall had people calling them dead they never gained players like PUBG nor did they lose this many people this fast, never before has a game thats so popular become unpopular this fast..

PUBG grew last year during summer, so clearly summer has nothing to do with gaining/loseing this much players, it may indicate smaller trends that dont matter compared to this.

Any games population dies over time, PUBG was released 6 months a go tho and has already lost half its players since then, this game did better before release than after, a hint at whats really driving people away.

PUBGs player loss hasnt even hit its heights yet, more players were lost in the last 30 days than any of the 4-5 months that it has been loseing players, normally with a player exodus it happens pretty quickly then shows signs of less and less people leaving, in PUBGs case we cans ee that we havent even hit the maximum ammount of elavers per month at 20%.

If PUBG was to stop loseing more and more players each month and stayed at 20% the game will have 0 players in 5 months at that rate, of course we should see less and less palyers elaving soon tho it cant imagine it being left with a healthy player base regardless at this rate.

In my opinion all the statistics and signs point towards players leaving the game for a few reasons, the biggest being the fact that Bumhole has done nothing meaningfull to stop cheaters and people dont want to play a game that so easy to cheat it, easy to cheat = 0 competition.

The second is that instead of doing progressive and meaningfull updates bumhole has decided that drastically redesigning the game (weapon balance patch of recent) and adding more l00t bawxes are the best ways to spend the tiem that they have. ($ > gameplay improvements)

Third is tough competition, fortnite has better anti-cheat, is easier to accsess and runs with less gltiches/silly and annoying gameplay mechanics, and before you say fortnite is for kids, if thats true then pubg is for teens.

All and all the future for PUBG looks dark, its pretty much the H1Z1 of 2018, fortnite is doing to PUBG what PUBG did to H1Z1. Rampant cheaters, $ based l00t bawxes and bad game design/ability has lead to many players uninstalling the game and they wont return.

Something everyone should look at, as it gives you all the information you need to know to make your own mind up about where PUBG is heading -> http://steamcharts.com/app/578080

You make a good argument, agree to disagree. My money is on 500,000+ concurrent players this time next year.

As do you thats why I offered it, happy to disagree that being said I agree with your estimate of this time next year its prboably going to be around 500,000 give or take not much but I think we will reach that number very very soon and it wont change much after that - A game this big will always keep a loyal fanbase, take a look at Battlefield Bad company 1, people still play that and on xbox..
And this is how a good argument should look.
Thank you two for being civil.

+1 both of you
I suspect a good chunk of player loss comes from people disgusted by their idiotic lawsuit against epic games. Even people who aren't Fortnite fans are just plain disgusted at their behavior.

Yeah, I know what the website said. They are suing because of the mere POSSIBILITY that Epic Games will not release extensions to the game engines.

Not that they have done it. But because they MIGHT. They also mention how Fortnite is similae, but that's not why they are suing. BS. You can't honestly believe Bluehole is suing Fortnite because they MIGHT hold back extensions simply to keep them from improving pubg? You can't so people for ♥♥♥♥ they haven't done! It's madness! Sheogorath level madness!
