Maybe its just you thats bad at using them ?

they work fine for me in fact i once won a standoff with a guy using just the frying pan
and he had a SHOTGUN he had me cornered in a small building and i just waited till he was reloading and then i jumped out the window at him and he fired 1 shot at me and MISSED and so i just belted him with the frying pan right in the face and got 100% damage on him and killed him instantly..... just remember its about timing thats the key

after i killed him i burst out laughing it was so funny!!!!!

But it's SO unintuitive compared to how they would work in real life. Also, nobody can deny that the hitreg is pretty much trash

Buffing the weapons that are in the game, actually makes the game better so there'd be some point of using them if you find nothing else early game.
