I'm really happy with this setup.
I agree with you the headphones are really good and this games sound system is pretty crap however the headphones you're using only has two speakers. What your headphones is actually using is virtual surround sound built into it. Any stereo headset can do this by using software.
I have the HyperX Cloud Revolver and use my Soundblaster z card to give me virtual surround.
7.1 supported headset has the 7.1 built into the chipset in the headset though.
If you do it in software, it is not as good as there is a delay getting the signal, virtualising it, sending it back to the headset.
So it is the second worst sound in a shooter game?
