Confused about Pubg Sounds (versus players) Anyone else having issues?
I think i'm nearing 600 hours into this game if not already and I'm still confused about the sounds each player makes when it's a one versus one. Specifiically when I get killed because I don't hear the other player make noise. However when I watch the deathcam, not only are they making so much noise that they should be heard from an audio perspective from my character, they of course can hear me as well.

For example I'm lying down outside the open barns, making 0 sound (prone). The player is maybe 20-25 feet from me. Crouch walking towards me, for some reason I hear nothing.

Watch the death cam, when they are that close I SHOULD be getting audio hints of their location. Death cam presents the sound of them crouch walking towards me. Yet I hear 0 of it.

I've also been playing at Windows Sound 90% and 100% in game volume just to hopefully hear players better but this isn't always the case. Stereo Headsets as well, since I've been seeing a lot of people complain on forums that surround sound headsets aren't that great with this games audio and also streamers (e.g. Shroud) also state the same.

Is this a common theme for many of you? Where you find that you hear 0 of opposing players momvements, yet they perfectly hear you? It should be an equal trade of audio hunts, yet it's not always the case.

Thanks!

The differences between headsets is quite large. There is a good chance that your headset isn't providing you a quality experience if what you describe is happening often. But I feel your pain because I only have a crappy $50 headset lol

Not much for you to do if you can't hear people... As far as I can tell there are only a few reasons you can't hear someone. 1. You weren't paying attention and/or don't know what sound footsteps make on the different terrains. 2. Your headset is not loud enough, or good enough quality. 3. You have too much noise around you. Having a quiet house is pretty important if you need to hear.

I mean I hope a $400 Beyerdynamic MMX 300 is considered good, especially from an audophiliac perspective (reviews, etc).

There was no sound around me, just pure blissful Miramar sun hahahaha.

I'd like to point out this does happen at very rare occassions and when I'm fully attentive. So it's not a lack of attention to sound and my surroundings, and without any background noise (especially at 3am hahahah). Just frustrating sometimes, as the replay is clearly evident of the sound they are making, however from 1st person perspective, no audio clues were given at the time. Just wanted to see if anyone else comes across similar issue(s) at times
your team doesn't shut up ?

I have this often, some of my team mates use an open mic rather than push to talk, and often in tense end game situations all I hear is someone celling fan causing static.

also check you haven't tweaked your in game sounds to lower the volume

Perhaps you have some settings in the third party software of your headset and/or sound card that is messing with it? I'm stumped why you'd have these issues with that headset other than some sort of software interference... or maybe it really is a game bug that effects your headset.
Can you hear your squad mates footsteps and such perfectly fine? If so you're having the same issue I have.

Either the sound channel priority coding of the game is messed up or there is something else going wrong with the game. Because for me... I can hear the other three members of my squad perfectly fine! But I regularly can't hear enemies.

If we're in a city I can hear my friends moving around even if they are crouched and a block or more away up in a building. I can hear the sounds of doors opening and them moving. If they are running around carelessly then its clear as day and they sound like a rampaging moose.

However... in that same scenario I won't hear an enemy opening doors in the building I'm in and running up two flights of stairs full speed. Even on the deathcam they are silent. Annoyingly I can often still hear my team doing crouched shuffling in the building across the street though.

Whether your specific issue is the game or not I couldn't say, but there is definitely some issues going on with the games sound system.
that needs a video of someone opening a door and running up the stairs in your building with no sound
I used to have several videos of that happening, but the games updates made those old videos invalid. Not sure how I'd post one of the in-game "videos" anyway though since I don't do any FRAPS or other video recording and such.

I have great headsets, I'm an audio professional, and using stereo. At the beginning of matches I get loud sparks of distorted sound. Little clipping sounds, AND I also have the same sound glitch you're having, only in SAVAGE map. Squad says, "footsteps to right (oh, this is after they've all dies and I'm 1v4 for win)" and all I can say is that it's not registering in my phones. I believe them, of course, and use the info, but I know damn well that the game is simply failing to supply me with the same audio info. It sucks...
